Cheaper than Dirt is doing something good.

Being an empty gesture is spot on.

At this point they burned their bridges. They could change their tune, but I still won't do business with them ever again. Capitalism is one thing, what they did was rape.

Sounds like so much pandering. Agree with the others that Uncle Sam likely doesn't shop much at CTD.

CTD will never get my money -- SECOND time they've been sickeningly been gouging people. And they're not losing a dime, just like Larue and Olympic, not selling to NY, etc. Even if those states want the makers' product they can get them thru a distributor which is actually common in government contracting anyway because they often want some special value-added service.

That is nice, but we really can't hope of see an impact till we have Glock, Remington, Sig, and maybe Ruger.

Ironically, they did not stop sales after Sandy hook for the liberal agenda.
Even worse, they did it so they could shut down the website and triple all their prices.
I will never shop with them again.

Never left my poop list since '08. Don't know or care what they do.

In both iterations of the Obamapanic, they participated in outrageous price gouging. Their right to charge whatever they can get away with. My right to vote with my feet and my wallet and never do business with them again. (I never thought they were all that great to begin with.)

And the price gouging continues with most of the suppliers right now and today.

I first started shopping with CTD in 04 or 05. When they started gouging before most other places did and "reevaluated" their firearm policy, they lost lots of customers. Myself included. A good measure but it is too little too late. Besides I don't think the cut off state governments will really wake up until some big name says no such as Glock.

The only dirt that CTD’s prices beat is pay dirt. They have overplayed Gordon Gekko’s “greed is good” view of capitalism by treating its customers as dirt. Once the panic buying is over, the only dirt that they will be able to run through their sluice box will be overburden.

CTD used to be a good store, both Brick & Mortar and on-line. But for the last number of years CTD has been nothing but a price gouger.

I have not shopped them in years and won't start now just because they make the token (although appropriate) move.

Of course, cheaper than dirt is seeking customer willing to pay the panic prices. It might help their loss of goodwill with some people. Or, it might just add law enforcement to their list of former customers.

I was just at their site looking for 30 rd P-mags and surprisingly CTD has them in stock.
Not surprisingly, they are listed at $100 each.
Never again from me!

They could be giving away free Colt 6920s, I would take it then tell them I'm still not buying anything from you. I will treat them how that have treated us and gun rights. The only thing as bad as a lying polititian is a bandwagon jumper, be it sports or exponentially worse, the 2nd Amendment. The only reason they are doing this is because they hurt their own bottom line. They can't lose tens of millions of dollars from customers, the few hundred thousand dollars in police orders means nothing in comparison. What they have done now is a meaningless gesture. They will never get a dime out of my pocket again. Screw us once shame on you, screw us twice shame on us. I for one won't give them a chance to screw me over again.

Their motives are questionable, but it doesn't hurt. Maybe CTD can get some other companies on board

CTD is the most pathetic online gun retailer I have ever seen. I have no problem with someone making a profit. That's what business is all about. But what they have done with their prices is so far beyond explainable. And it's not just their AR's or accessories. Everything they have I can find way cheaper on other sites. Spend 5 minutes and you can smash their price. Won't and will NEVER get a cent from me. I hope they go bankrupt. Wonder if big brother will say THEY "are to big to fail". Hopefully we find out.

This reads to me -- perhaps cynically -- like desperate back peddling from CTD.

They really blew it big with their core customer base after the Newtown tragedy by stopping all firearms sales and stating, from nowhere and with no explanation, that "CTD doesn't sell firearms"; then when things cooled a little on the shooting but customers were furious and not letting up, they suddenly sold firearms again with the excuse that it was all an order processing problem.

A seemingly transparent lie since to the best of my knowledge they were still able to process non-firearm orders through it all.

I don't mind companies probing to see what the market will bear, but currently listing new Colt 6920s at $3800 and Pmags at $100 is absurd even at the height of the most recent panic, much less now as prices are dropping.

Worse still are the many reported experiences of customer orders placed immediately prior to Newtown being cancelled as suddenly "out of stock" (after payment was given, item confirmed, and in some reports, shipping confirmed), then the cancelled order item re-listed immediately thereafter at panic prices.

Again, I don't mind sellers probing the market, but if you've entered into a finalized sale at a given price, squirming out of it on an "oops, out of stock" claim only to magically have the item back in stock a day later at double or triple the price is lousy.

I'm impressed at the anti-CTD sentiment burning up the gun forums far and wide, but I'm not surprised -- I'd say they earned it.

CTD is trying to cover their own ass and get back into gun owners' good graces. What, they won't sell to someone they didn't sell to anyway?

Oh wait. Since they're not selling to them anymore, they have to make up the non-existent lost sales by raising prices of pmags from $70 each to $90 each.

I think CTD deserves praise for this. Good for them. I think all of the negative comments should be directed at companies like Glock, S&W, and Colt for not doing what CTD is doing with sales to LE in anti-freedom states.

I guess I have not even looked at their website recently, and was not aware they were gouging the public, much like other companies
I found a good deal on some factory ammo a few years ago and bought from them, but have not found anything since that dosen't compare to LGS prices,
So.. no need to look again,

CTD engaged in gouging, say it isn't so. Come on get over it. Guns and ammo are a business. Our economy is a capitalistic one. Why do more work for less money if you don't have to. If you are of that persuasion I have lot of yard work you can do for free.

CTD may be gouging but with those inflated prices people have been able to get ammo as deal shoppers have turned their nose and walked away. For a bunch of supposed capitalists I don't understand how the simple concepts of supply and demand are lost on people. Ammo is not a public utility or necessity like clean water. It's a luxury item ultimately. So instead of buying now save your ammo for when prices come down in December (hopefully). In the meantime take up blackpowder shooting, reloading, black powder manufacturing (get a mortar and pestle for less than $30, learn how to reload primers [not that hard]), make your own black powder and find an open air range).

If cheaper than dirt gets some good prices on ammo I'll buy there. Till they do, I won't.

Is their gesture empty? Yeah. But at least they have publicly announced it.

And the price gouging continues with most of the suppliers right now and today.

Who? There is gouging, then there is CTD GOUGING!

Guns and ammo are a business.

No they are a way of life for many of us, and we can't enjoy that way of life with companies trying to screw us.
