I went out today to see what was left in the LGS. I have an FFL and basically there is nothing available in 17HMR except a few CZs.
I've been wanting something flat shooting and rimfire to get into some rimfire competitions at the club. I have a couple of 22s but why buy another? Time to try something new.
I ran across this Savage and felt it was worth setting up so I grabbed one. I don't hunt and only shoot targets. I know the ballistics kinda fall apart at 200 yards, but target shots are possible to 300. Since most competitions are 100 yards I don't think range will become an issue.
My questions are: Did I waste my money trying to set one of these up for rimfire competition?
Do you think 17HMR is a good caliber for this?
I am adding a 6-24x50mm AO Mil dot scope and a steel bi pod for testing.
Anyone used a 17HMR in a rimfire match and did you like it?
