Chevy vs Ford, doesn't anyone drive anything else like a Dodge maybe?

While I dive a Chevy, I don't want to shot it, maybe at it sometimes.

But there are other choices besides Remington and Mossberg.

No it's not a Benilli it's a Weatherby PA-459 and under $500.00

jim your wetherby is made in turkey. I will hesitate to buy shotguns from turkey. We are neighbors with Turkey and got plenty of turkish made shotguns here. They look nice but they are not heavy duty and quality runs from acceptable to total junk. I mean some models are working some are like cool looking toy guns.

a couple guns you dont hear a lot about but i think are as good as the mossys or the rems. are the smith and wesson model 916 riot and the benelli nova riot.the smith is a plain jane shotty with extended mag and 19 in barrel, slick blued, all steel and walnut,.rifle sights.hard to find the smith but well worth it when you do.

the nova is a sweet riot gun with black stocks, 18 in barrel and ghost ring sites.handles well and shoots well and is a quality item for the price.standard mag but i think they are making extensions now for them.i wish i had mine back.the smith ill never sell.

mossberg 500 combo

$299 at BiMart with an extra barrel for hunting. Can't beat the price. Gotta get a strap and light and I'm set. When I win the lottery I'll get a Beretta automatic...to go with my set of Italian toys: Vespa 250, Moto Guzzi California Special Sport, Beretta PX4 Compact 9 mm...

I have a Maverick 88 with the extended magazine tube. I can get 9 shots in the Maverick. It handles well and shoots good. I shoot skeet with it to fit accessories. Yes, my score does drop. The cylinder choke just won't reach the passing shots. With buckshot it holds a pattern as good as any shotgun bar none. The MSRP on the Maverick 88 with the extended magazine is $230. You can not buy one at Walmart. Walmart only stocks the regular 6 shot Maverick 88. Buds Gun Shop or a local gun shop will be your best bets.

I really enjoy my Mossberg 590 with ghost ring sights and an ATI Akita stock.

Tony the tiger is right take a class and practice, practice, practice. Walk the exact path in the dark you would take in the house should a home invasion occur. Buy practice rounds and practice reloading drills and possibly slug changeovers.

You really need to handle any gun before making a decision based on what someone else bought. Just because a certain gun has a certain amount of LOP or drop etc. does not mean the gun will be comfortable for you. For instance these two guns have the same LOP, but the mossberg has a longer aluminum frame and a shorter stock which puts my nose too close to my hand for a comfortable feel on the wing...this is the standard adult stock.

I bought a Mossberg 500 Persuader with 20" barrel and 7+1 capacity I believe for $334.00 a few months back. It will do everything you need for HD. Use the extra money for ammo to practice and have fun. It's a great gun. you don't need parkerized barrels, heatshields, fancy sights extra, etc. for HD IMHO.
Or just the Model 500 with a short barrel.

Allow me to dispense some free advice, which is worth every penny you'll pay for it.
Pawn Shops. Look around in a large pawn shop, you'll usually find a nice variety of used, name brand guns. Look at the 870, the 500, don't overlook a Winchester 1300, look seriously at any Ithaca 37 you find, you probably won't be over 200 out the doors.
