Take note, fellow New York pistoleros:

Unless you want your name and address to be furnished to newspapers and others under the Freedom of Information Act, you have until May 15th to submit your "NYS Firearms License Request for Public Records Exemption" form to your local licensing authority. You can download the form here: http://www.troopers.ny.gov/Firearms/Public_Records_Exemption/FOIL_Exemption_Form.pdf

I checked box #4 and mailed it in today.

Already done. I cited the two break-ins that appeared to be targeted to gun owners listed on the "LoHud/Journal News" map, and the fact that my clients are overwhelminly anti-gun, and that they may refuse to continue to do business with me, or give me referrals, because they're either afraid I'm packing or simply don't like the fact that I have firearms.

I`ve hear rumors that while filing the request for exempting your records from public scrutiny helps, they are still required to dislose that you filed for an
exemption.
If true, it still tells antis you have guns but doesn`t specify what you have.Dosen`t sound so good to me.:scrutiny:

Good luck up there. I would not trust any "exemption" coming from NY. I left the northeast (hopefully for good) last week and have not looked back. CT will be just as bad as NY soon. It might time to exit that area...

Homes in both states, Texas and New Mexico. Not sure which one I like best, with New Mexico's looming restrictions on standard mags and "closing the gun show loophole" legislation.

What a sad state of affairs New York has become that residents have to file exemptions to keep the burglar target off their back. Glad I got out of NY before the SAFE act threw the Constitution in the shredder.

I don't trust any "list" aimed at doing something. For example the National Do Not Call list is repeatably sold to advertising companies.
