I attended yesterday. 5000+ turnout, enthusiastic crowd whose chants of "Cuomo's Gotta Go" raised the hairs up on the back of my neck. People had some interesting signs, too. All in all, I'm really glad I went.

I'll make it quick because I have to go to work. I was there as well. Awesome. Can't wait for the next. Now it's the time to dig into the pockets. My plan is to buy a safe, contribute to 2A organizations, protest, write and call, even Schumer, educate myself and others regarding the RKBA, and wait for the shortages to end. Buying anything new is on the back burner. If we don't step up to the plate, $$$$$, then we deserve the outcome.
Estimates are that anywhere from 5 to 15K of us there in Albany yesterday. Times that by at lest 4 to 6, ie, family, then it becomes more impressive.

"over 5,000" was the media's way of trying to understate the turnout... while technically accurate, it is painting a false picture... there were over 200 buses that trucked people in from all over the state... at roughly 50 per bus, that is around 10,000... and there were many more who drove themselves or carpooled...next time, there will be more...

Are you saying there were, in fact, over nine thousand? That's quite impressive.

The NYSRPA estimated 7,000 people were there. I think the number is somewaht misleading. When I arrived there about 1 pm (with 3 busloads of buddies from St. Lawrence County ) many people had already were there and left, while others came in, I would guess maybe 11,000 or more were there at some point during the day. If you were there and saw a tall ,60 something guy, wearing a NRA cap, walking with a brace on one leg, a wood cane and bad limp, you might have seen me.
I think the part I liked best was turning 180 degrees, facing the Capitol Building and chanting "Cuomo must go".

unless you are an antigunner, they keep saying that a 9000-10,000 is just a small portion of the state's population, and therefor not representative of the state as a whole... but a 600 person poll in their favor is... dont'cha just love the double standards

Randomly selected polling pools and the self selected turnout to a rally really are two very different things.

I was there also. Too bad we don't know each other we could have said Hello. Anyway we need to beat this. I can't believe stuff I have now will need to be sold out of state. These people are crazy. Mike

Guy with gray hair, baseball cap, pissed off look on face ? sleazy rider - that description probably fits at least 25 % of the guys at the rally. Is that your way of sayin you are legion :) ?
Upstater, at this stage in my life I know both my hands shake a bit, but I haven`t been able to keep it a secret! :)

I had a black leather jacket, a grey baseball cap (no facial hair), an NRA Withington Center patch on my left shoulder, and a Monster Hunter patch on my right shoulder.
I call these sort of things "recognition totems" and I wish it had occurred to me to say something ahead of time.
It was fun running into people from my local range who had arrived there independently of me, and also running into the guy who will be my Appleseed instructor in Westchester this May - he offered me an Appleseed brochure, but I told him I already went on one shoot and was doing another, and then he told me he was running the one I signed up for. Small world eh?
Sleazy Rider - I chuckled at that one, because people of that description were in abundance there. I also saw like a dozen clones of the guys who run Indian Lake/Blue Mountain Fish and Game - I didn't say hello because I was never quite sure I had the right guy!

Indian Lake / Blue Mountain Lake association ? No I do not belong to that. I do spend some time in the area fishing. My hunting is a little east of there in North Hudson.
It's a great area. Mike

all depends on how random the poll is... it is relatively easy to set up a supposedly random poll or study to "prove" whatever point those running the poll or study wish to prove...

By the way Jefferson County became the 37th county to pass a resolution opposing the infamous NY SAFE ACT. 37 counties out of a total of 62 counties have now gone on record as opposing it.
Well so far that`s 60% of the counties opposed to it. No point in counting the snivelling amend, master, please- counties! The resolutions are non-binding but who knows what the total number will be or what effect they`ll have.
I wish I knew how to start impeachment proceedings against the tyrant Cuomo!
