Wow. That's going to take a while to watch!

Guess I'll take my laptop with me downstairs when I go load some ammo. For some reason, it always calms me down to make ammo while I'm listening to anti-gun crap.
 
Wow, Iowa's senator Chuck Grassley is really boring. Listening to him talk almost put me to sleep. How did we ever vote for someone so boring? haha

Well, I suppose it's his viewpoints that count. :)

You ain't joking, that actually DID put me to sleep.

I *started* watching that earlier and at some point I dozed off.

Then my doorbell rang and woke me up, my laptop battery was dead, there was a pile of drool on Lyman's cast bullet handbook.

If anyone has better stamina than I apparently have, cliff notes would be welcome. :)
 
One bit: TX senator, forget the name going from memory here, offered an amendment to exempt current mil or vets on AWB. Feinstein argued against it because of PTSD concerns, basically implying too many troops are nuts to allow the same exemption she makes for current/ex LEO. Chair jumped to her defense when the TX sen pointed out the implication and said nobody's implied what she pretty much had just said. Failed 9-9 vote.

Overall AWB bill did not come to a vote. Skipped around a lot so not sure on others.

Edit to add: Feinstein specifically brought up the slide fire stock. Even if all else fails I wouldn't be surprised to see an attempt to ban them specifically latter.
 
I have the utmost respect for veterans but they should not be exempt. It would just be another layer of government servants that would have more power than the American Citizens. We stand together for if the citizens fall it will surely end poorly for those on the other side.
 
And neither should retired law enforcement. For the same reasons.

Just more proof that she doesn't understand the Constitution she took an oath to support and defend.

And there's a tie for second place:
"It's legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines." 50:48
"PTSD is a new phenomenon, as a result of the Iraq war." 1:34:55

How is it possible that somebody wielding so much power has such a feeble grasp on reality? The more I peel back the layers on this onion, the more I want to cry.

You certainly hit the nail on the head with that. It is truly sad to see, and tragic that someone like that actually has the power to make / influence the laws under which we live. It's like watching a dark comedy.
 
SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN: If I understand this, this adds an exemption of retired military. As I understand our bill, no issue has arose in this regard during the 10 years the expired ban was in effect and what we did in the other bill was exempt possession by the United States or a department or agency of the United States. So that included active military.

The problem with expanding this is that, you know, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this....

Feinstein thinks Post Trauma Stress Disorder PTSD is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War.

Well Gee. PTSD has been cited to explain the behaviors of the Hatfields and McCoys following the Civil War. PTSD has been described as explaining problems of survivors of hurricanes or of victims of crime, especially rape. Viet Nam vets were described as having PTSD pretty early. PTSD is the result of surviving a violent near death experience that pre-programs how the amygdala of the brain reacts to future stressful situations. It has been part of human nature since human brains had amygdalas.

As a US combat veteran, I wholeheartedly agree!

There is only one class of citizen in the United States: one who is entitled to all of the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen, regardless of what his or her job may be.
 
That lady makes me very, very angry.. and she makes me want to say very bad things.

PTSD is a "new" thing just like everyone wants to give fancy names to everything else... Just ask the late comedian George Carlin.

He did a bit about it many years ago.... "First it was shell shock, then battle fatigue, etc..."

IIRC it was on the same album/segue to the bit when he says we should rename motel(s) to
"sleep & f---(s)"...and "all that's left in the soda machine is a can of diet Shasta orange and Canada Dry Tonic water... that NOBODY WANTS!!"


Feinstein needs to retire and quite hurting America.

Indeed.
I was astonished that she was able to singlehandedly put the brakes on the national right to carry bill too. How has one person got so much power?

Well, all things considered, she probably represents the majority of her constituents very well. Just sayin... :p
 
I've seen/talked to many servicemen returning from tours with PTSD. We joke about it, tongue in cheek, but I wouldn't want that gorilla or monkey on my back.

It's a shame that seeking help for it may bar our servicemen and women or police the right to bear arms. That shouldn't be in the playbook.

The civil population suffers PTSD from traumatic events, what's the difference?

Doesn't one have to be adjudicated mentally defective before access to his 2nd amendment right is denied? Or is there some unwritten, "I think this guy/gal doesn't need a weapon" override?

Not trying to defend those who truly do not need access to weapons because of mental issues, but where is the line drawn, and does it move according to circumstances?
