My LGS has literally everything: 223, 308, 9, 45, 22 LR.

But, not much and they are not your "nicer" brands.

Im loving going into the shop and buying 6.5x55 and 54R in large quantities, as I have everything else already!

interesting response.
it looks like the standard deer calibers and some of the unusual hunting calibers didn't get touched. as someone else said ... it seems like people have raided the NATO ammo and the 9 mm, 40 mm ammo.

I heard yesterday from a friend that a Gov't buyer had come to some of the major survival/surplus stores in Los Angeles and bought up ALL of their survival rations. All the dehydrated food. So some of these supplies are gone for at least several weeks. It probably doesn't affect the whole country ... but did affect some major outlets here. I've got no idea what's going on.

but it's good to know that the basic deer calibers can still be obtained in some parts of the country.

BTW ... at Turners Outdoorsman in Los Angeles the only ammo sitting on the shelf here is a few boxes of 45 acp and shotgun shells. That's it folks.

I'm in Phoenix. All I've seen are .270 Win, .30-06, and .17 HMR almost every time I hit a store with ammo. That's the only rifle ammo I've seen in the last three months.

12 gauge #5, 6, 7.5, and 8 shot are widely available for shotguns.

44 Special for handguns.

I haven't seen anything else since late December.

I am still seing 30-06,280 Remington,300 Savage,and 270 with pretty regular frequency.
And on pistol ammo 45 ACP.

You know ... just taking this thread by itself .... there's an awfully good argument for having one rifle at home chambered in 243, 270 or 30-06 :)

270, 7mm, 30-06, and 22-250 are pretty available at Walmart here, LGS have some selection of most other calibers but no Walmart prices of course. No one in my area that I am aware of has 22LR, 9mm or 5.56 x 45.

Yep, lots of .270, .30-06 and .243. Not much .308 and even less .22lr and .223 (though one LGS has some PMC for $29/20).

It seems as though that Western NC is where everything gets sold out at high prices. You cant find .22 lr around here for less than 40 a brick. .45s are 28-30 for hardball. 9s are 14-16 a box. NO .223 or 7.62 for less than a dollar per round (when you can find it). Shotgun shells are still on the shelves.

Primers, powder and projectiles are rare as hens teeth.

.22LR is hard to come by here in Houston. The shelves at Walmart are bare.
Some .22-250 Winchester VarmintX available and shotgun shells--that's it.
I've looked around at other places and can find .22LR but CCI MM is very rare and all ammo is limited quantities and 1 box max/cus. Most online backorders are mid-August delivery???? I'm not an ammo hoarder, just wonder when the madness will end---not really sure why these shortages came about? If you see what you want--buy it on the spot.

.243, .270, 7MM, .30-06, .300 WM, and a host of other "less popular"...like .416 Rem Mag, .303 British, 7MM STW.

Ive seen .45 Long Colt, and premium .44 REM Mag.

LGS (in southern Bradford County PA) has adequate 7.62x29, 7.62X54r, .22 mag, and some .22. All of the popular pistol cartridges are available. What is missing is the AR ammo.

IF you can determine the delivery schedule and IF the store is not gouging the price, you can obtain reasonable but limited ammo. Or if you have credentials, look up the CMP site for Sales and order from them. You are not going to wait longer and the ammo is very good. Or just wait a while and the pipeline will open up. No Worries. :)

I bought a box of 9mm at Walmart.

It was $12.xx per 50. They had a cart from the truck and had not shelved it yet. I could have bought more but figured someone else might need some.

I would guess the 30-06 is still around because the people that use them are not near so excited about the situation.

Even .308 did not dry up completely around here. The rare stuff is .22LR, 9mm, and .223. All three used to be really inexpensive and it does not cost anyone much to pile it up.

My local Academy has plenty of 375 H&H and 35 whelen.

...;Now if only I show 375 H&H or 35 Whelen...

That and the 30-06 isn't a round you just go and blast uncontrollably with. I was at the range two weeks ago and not one, but two people were just blasting the target as quick as they could empty the mag at 25 feet. I get for some that doing that is a form of stress release, but seeing how the .223/5.56 is kinda sparse and not as cheap, it would of been nice if they took the time to aim and focus more on a controlled accurate burst.
Unless one has a BAR, I don't see that happening with an 06. Heck, I won't do that with my Garand. Perhaps I'm being just an old fogey.

Forgot to add that I still see plenty of .270 / .30-06 here in Central Ohio. Not much of .223, .308, and .22 rimfire of any kind.

This is true. With .223 going for about the same price as '06 now though, makes me really glad to have two rifles chambered in it. If SHTF, I can do a lot of good feeding and protecting my family with it.

For planning late this spring, do the staffers at Bass Pro allow ALL of the Shipments' Contents to make it to the public shelves, or do/can they hold back boxes of .22 and bottles of powder etc (in hidden places) for certain friends when it arrives?

turkey loads and target loads are the only shotgun ammo at wally world. other than that, there's the standard deer calibers, but in limited quantities.

I have three LGS's in my area that I hit up about once every two weeks. I pick up the random box of 9mm, 22LR, .380, or .45 maybe every third or fourth run, although at about $20 a box for 50 9mm or .380. I have picked up two bricks of 22LR at good prices, but it is really hit or miss.

i hav enough to shoot moderate amounts, but i am definitely counting rounds and trying to shoot what i have more of rather than burning .223.... i was shooting sunday and really wanted to take my AR, but opted to leave it at home since i'm down to about 300 rounds.

Around here. A lot of .270 (nobody can hunt anything with it in Indiana), usually some 30-06, .243 is not as bad as I first thought though all the middle-weight stuff is gone...59 and 100 grainers are to be had.
