Rock Chucker owners

The spring is either broken or has been stretched out of spec.. I've had the same issue with from time to time, and all I had to do was re-shape the spring a tad. But if it's broke just contact RCBS and they'll ship you a new one, probably for no charge.

Never mind is a very common RCBS press problem. Enjoy you Rock Chucker! New one or used....if used which model?

BTW, I like my spring fairly loose so the shell holder will self center on the die as long as I don't try to break reloading speed records.

RC owner here. Just feed it cases, and it'll work till you die. You're done with buying presses.

It will take years to wear that spring out. I've been using the same Chucker for over 10 years. Shell holder still clips in and stays in like a new Chucker right off the manufacturing line.

The Rockchucker is an excellent press. Have had mine for 35 years.

A little oil here and there and it will last so long your grand kids wont wear it out

Bought mine used 7 years ago and it still works as good as it did then. Over 8,000 rifle rounds loaded with it and still running strong. I use it for all the heavy jobs.

I can't even begin to imagine how many times that press has been cycled in the last 25+ years. Never had an issue.

i bought mine new in 1969 39.50 300,000 rounds later it still works just fine have 2 dillons but still do most of my rifle loads on it

My RC is nearly 40 years old and can do now what it could new then. Show me ANY Lee press that has lasted more than a few years of daily use! I keep hearing of working Lee LoadMasters but have yet to see one. The publisher of RIFLE Mag said the same thing in print too. Like Big Foot, you hear of them, but when push comes to shove it goes up in puff of smoke and is never seen or heard from again.

Well said Legion, I have a RC that was used when I bought it back 20 years ago and it is just like a Timex, "takes a licking and keeps on ticking." I have a few friends who bought lee's and have nothing but hiccups all the time. I load on the RC and a Dillon Square deal, I will never wear them out, but I keep trying to. My grandkids won't wear them out.

I had a similar prob with my RCBS Turret press. Called Customer Service, had two new springs, AT NO CHARGE, in 3 days. Press works just fine now...I use it for all my pistol calibers.

RCBS Customer service is as good or better than any in the industry.

I have the predecessor to the RCBS Rockchuker the older RCBS A-2 press from the 1960's. It has functioned perfectly for more than 40 years.

That's true. But it applies equally to any other iron-steel press. I have a 26 year old RC 2 that's in perfect condition. But that's also true of my 48 year old Lyman Spartan. I've had too much good service from all reloading tool brands to think any of them might be unique by color.

IF Lee had made their Classic Cast single stage when I bought the RC my rifle main press would be red - it's really a better press, with much better user features.

The rockchucker is about the only implement that I can't destroy. Close to an anvil for durability.

just FYI, some folks like to remove the spring and use a properly-sized rubber o-ring to hold the shellholder. just roll it down to remove the shellholder. it allows the shellholder to self-center a little better.
