Apparently Gov Hickenlooper has announced that he will sign HB 1224 on Wednesday. We were asked for our reaction, and here is what we said:

We have said all along that based on the legal problems and uncertainties in the bill, as well as general principle, we will have no choice but to leave if the Governor signs this into law. We will start our transition out of the state almost immediately, and we will prioritize moving magazine manufacturing operations first. We expect the first PMAGs to be made outside CO within 30 days of the signing, with the rest to follow in phases. We will likely become a multi-state operation as a result of this move, and not all locations have been selected. We have made some initial contacts and evaluated a list of new potential locations for additional manufacturing and the new company headquarters, and we will begin talks with various state representatives in earnest if the Governor indeed signs this legislation. Although we are agile for a company of our size, it is still a significant footprint, and we will perform this move in a manner that is best for the company and our employees.

It is disappointing to us that money and a social agenda from outside the state have apparently penetrated the American West to control our legislature and Governor, but we feel confident that Colorado residents can still take the state back through recalls, ballot initiatives, and the 2014 election to undo these wrongs against responsible Citizens.

Time for a general nationwide (and international) boycott of Colorado and for Coloradans to divest their affiliations with that fallen state.

Well, at least they focused on the REAL issue here; limiting crazies to only 15 rounds on ammo between reloads...good way to solve the problem ;). Hopefully they oust this guy in the next election and repel this junk as the guy from magpul pointed out.

Did anyone in Colorado actually think he wouldn't?

I hoped he might. I just hope the Colorado republicans can find somebody who isn't a nut to run against him.

I'm changing my party registration once he signs it.

J.

Of course anyone with a brian knew he planned to sign it all along. I applaud MagPul and plan to write that idiot a letter telling him I will not spend another dime in Colorado if I can avoid it.

This was like, when you told yourself "everything is going to be OK" - but you knew deep down that everything was NOT going to be OK. You *hoped* it would be OK which is why we wrote letters, but it was in vein.

I'm going to think really hard about this "single issue voting" I'm starting to hear floating around. Like so many other "groups" that vote in their own interest and let the chips fall where they may. When the smoke settles, the Liberals will be forced to realize, they started this.

I'm so disgusted I don't know what to do right now.

We could all give up on the two party system. If we put enough libertarians into congress they won't be able to pass new gun control laws.

Stop with the defeatist attitudes.

The citizens of Colorado are NOT the enemy. The short sighted special interests of a few elected officials and a lot of outside money made this happen.

We are not going to stop until we vote these bum whose votes can be bought OUT of office. And if we can't vote them all out we can sure break their monopoly. And we can fight this ridiculous 'laws' in the courts and overturn them at the polls, in a way rather unique to Colorado.

WE ARE NOT DONE.

The only good thing is that it sounds like HB 1224 is legally ripe for annihilation if any cases arise from it and work their way up through the appeals chain.

I seriously doubt we'll see any potential test cases... unless they're brought by a prosecutor who is against HB 1224 and wants to see it struck down.

This is one of those laws that is meant to keep the people and businesses who have "too much to lose" in line rather than real criminals.

They elected these bums didn't they? That may not make them the enemy, but it does make them partly responsible.

And this is where hitting Colorado businesses in their wallets may come in. About the only way non-Coloradans have to make their opinions felt and to help put the squeeze on the officials of that state is to engage in a sort of economic warfare. It will be up to the residents of the state to take back the legislature and the governor's office.

After the original ASW ban of '94, the voter backlash against the politicians who voted for it (mainly Democrats) gave them such a spanking at the polls that they were afraid to support any new gun control measures for almost two decades. Only Newtown finally overcame that fear. It's time they had another lesson. They need to have it driven home again that they need to leave law-abiding gun owners alone, or asses will sting.

I say we wait and see what the 2014 elections say. If he gets reelected than I agree it's CO's citizens own fault. Hopefully this has been a wake up call for the gun owners of CO to stop being pacifists.

Much of the blame lies with the Republican Party... Especially the governor's race. That being said, I seriously doubt that anyone from Colorado reading your post on THR actually voted for the culprits.

The law will take effect this year, unless some judge not married to the Democratic Party Machine issues a stay order.

In the meantime, what do we do, put our suddenly-illegal guns and magazines in escrow somewhere?

MagPul should investigate South Dakota. Black Hills Ammo and Bar-Sto are in the Rapid City/Sturgis area. I know the state gave incentives to Bar-Sto when they left California. Would be cool if that area became a "Gunpowder Valley".

Wanted to post more supportive email excerpts from Colorado representatives I received.

1) 1. Gun Control Bills

This past week started and ended with lengthy debate on the gun control bills. On Monday of last week we had third reading of the gun control bills. The debate went from 10:30 AM to early evening, with the majority party passing every bill. Included were two bills setting up the universal background checks (including requiring checks for many temporary transfers) and charging two fees, amounting to around $20 for each background check. The other significant bill which further infringes on our right to bear arms was the supposed ban on "high" capacity magazines. The way that bill is worded it bans nearly all magazines that are commercially available, because it includes any magazine that can be converted to a higher capacity.

On Friday the universal background check bill (HB-1229) came back from a House/Sent conference committee for final approval. We took all morning making the point that this bill is filled with unintended consequences, will cost the citizens significant dollars in fees, cannot be enforced without gun registration (which would set up a potential scenario of confiscation), and will not prevent the criminals from getting their guns. With almost no debate from the proponents of the bill, it passed. Later on Friday the House went through the same routine and the bill is now on the governors desk.

Though out this debate I have vowed to repeal all of these bills if we can get a better legislature and governor. I renew my pledge here as well.

Kevin Lundberg
Colorado State Senator
District 15

2) Thank you for your email. As you know, the last several weeks have been
frustrating and emotionally draining for me of my fellow Colorado
legislators who value liberty and the inalienable right of self-protection.
The direct attack on our constitutional rights by the ruling Democrat
majority in the legislature and the Governor himself has been breathtaking.
...
The reason I was unable to kill these bills was because I am in the
minority. Give me two, or maybe just one more Republican Senator and every
one of these bills would be dead on arrival.

And, we cannot do it without YOUR help. Contact the Governor today, and get
involved the 2014 elections TODAY!
Sincerely,

Ted Harvey
Colorado State Senator

3) Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding the Second Amendment debate currently going on at the Colorado State Capitol. I am a strong supporter of our Second Amendment and will fight against legislation that infringes on that important right.

As a strong advocate of the Second Amendment, I voted no on all five bills; nevertheless, these bills passed out of the Senate.

Senator Mark Scheffel
ASSISTANT MINORITY LEADER

4) Thank you for your correspondence.
Representative Everett takes his oath of office to uphold the constitution
seriously..go figure!!!
He has opposed ALL gun prohibition bills. He actually ran a bill, 'Make My
Day Better' bill.supporting business owners with their right to protect
their business property..yeah that bill failed!
Please stay engaged, keep the volume to your voice loud and clear in
supporting our constitutional rights.
Please keep our legislators in your prays, we are fighting the progressive
left, unfortunately we are in the minority.

Debbie Healy, Legislative Aide to Representative Justin Everett
Colorado House District 22

5) Hope you are doing well. I will be voting NO on both of the bills that we should hear today!

Take Care!
Libby
Assistant Minority Leader Libby Szabo
State Representative of House District 27

-----------

Finally, one you may want to vote out of office:

Thank you for contacting me. After much reflection, reviewing the many emails I received, talking to many people, I decided to support the four gun safety bills, because I believe they move us further down the path of striking that balance between protecting our second amendment rights with concerns for public safety.

I appreciate hearing from so many people, and look forward to invigorating conversations in the future.

Sincerely,

Representative Tracy Kraft-Tharp

I was bothered that she wants to look forward to "invigorating conversations" rather than doing the right thing now.

Good luck out there.

230RN,
I suspect that a judge WILL issue a stay order. May be the day before the law goes into effect. But I bet it will be made.

I wish gun owners in Colorado the best. Here in Arizona some legislators have also proposed new gun control laws similar to what is happening in Colorado, and has already happened in New York. I suspect these efforts will not be successful in the immediate future, but these forces do not quit in their efforts, ever. No state is immune. Who knows what is in store for us after the next mid-term elections. The political complextion is changing in Arizona as in many states, though probably less dramatically here. I suspect that, unfortunately, the "bums" will not be thrown out in the next elections in Colorado and New York. Where the opportunity for new gun control laws is concerned, the loss of a few hundred, or a even few thousand jobs, etc. is probably of little consequence. I don't believe most citizens, even gun owners, are passionate about gun rights. Many do not mind, and may even support, further restrictions as long as impact on their personal sport, or type of guns. is minimal. Gun control/restictions/bans, etc. are a tenet of liberal/progressive faith, no matter the consequences. I doubt that the anti-2A views of legislators, and the governors of New York and Colorado for instance, were unknown prior to their election. Most likely, IMHO, these same people will be applauded for their attempts to keep their citizens safe from crazies with " assault weapons", "high capacity ammunition feeding devices",etc, and, in most cases will be re elected. I truly hope I am wrong about this, just as I had hoped to be wrong about the recent presidential election...
