Buyers Beware

I posted back in January about purchasing a sub gun (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=698987). After posting that thread I decided to wait until I received the item before expressing my opinion.

I paid for the item on December 26th. It was shipped to my dealer on 3/19. I know for a fact that the dealer I bought it from sat on it for 6 weeks before even starting the dealer to dealer paperwork. I called him every week and sent multiple e-mails. This is inexcusable.

So buyers beware. Trip Wire Military Antiques in Delavan, WI has some really good prices. Unfortunately after you pay for your item the dealer doesn't respond to e-mails and waits months at a time before completing his part of the deal.

Thanks for the heads up. Only buy from reputable dealers. And to those that are experiencing long waits. Remember that F3 times are up, as well as F1 and F4.

Hmmm, I'll be interested to hear how that pans out as there are a couple Thompson Machine products that interest me.

I'm interested is some of their other products as well, but this initial experience is putting me off from placing another order

Remember that F3 times are up...

As a datapoint, the last F3 I submitted took almost five weeks. Sent in 2/22/13, approved on 3/20/13, and received by us yesterday.

One more note, a lot of these companies don't even have the can when you order. A lot of times, its not even made yet. Yankee Hill is notorious for this. Place the order, wait a few months until they get to your order and make the can, wait for their Form 2 to come back from making the can, then start the Form 3 process to your FFL/SOT, then finally your Form 4. Just because you can order it, doesn't mean they have it......

My check was cashed 9DEC2012. I'd have been thrilled if it had happened in "only" five weeks

One more note, a lot of these companies don't even have the can when you order.

Then they flat out lied to me, and I sure won't ever order anything else from them!

I'll be interested to see how long my YHM 7.62 can takes to make it to my SOT. I bought it from silenceshop.com who indicated they had it in stock. They allocated me a serial # within a day or so and told me the next step is the form 3. We'll see I guess.

You didnt buy it from YHM, you bought it from silenceshop... They likely had to wait for YHM to make it, before it was in stock.. Last ones we got straight from YHM took over four months before they made them

My dealer finally received the ISIS-2 from Thompson Machine and wasted no time getting me the forms to sign, I'm writing the check and will get paperwork in the mail to Atlanta tomorrow morning.

Nearly 4 month delay (my check cleared to dealer getting the can) by Thompson Machine in getting an allegedly "in-stock" suppressor transfered to a Texas dealer so it could be transfered to me.

I'm less than thrilled with the experience, but it should have a happy ending by Xmas.

Your transfer FFL/SOT should have a copy of the F3. What are the dates it was submitted and approved?

The form says to mail to Atlanta, which is also where all my others went. The Form 1 for SBR goes to WV.
