Most guns are easy to take apart for cleaning. If they weren't, customers would not buy them. I've heard that the Ruger MK series of pistols is notoriously difficult to disassemble, although I have no first hand experience with it.

Has there ever been a gun you've come across that is either a pain, or just plain confusing to take apart?

A 1911. It was the first gun I ever decomposed but each and every one thereafter got much easier.

I wound up building my competition 45 that shoots 11/2 inch groups at 50 yards on a Ransom Rest.

Buckmark comes to mind. I agree that some .22's are really a pain in the butt.

Ruger MKII

Way too complicated for a guy raised on both 1911s and Glocks. I couldn't reassemble it, so I sold it in pieces.

I think anything Browning, M2, water cooled .30, buckmark, 1911. I think mr. Browning was a genius in his designs, but overcomplicated them.

Marlin 1894/5, which are very close to the same. I'm just not that ambitious when it comes to anything beyond a field strip.

Colt Police Positive Special. In the middle of the woods. In my lap. With fading light. And one screwdriver. I somehow got the water out, got it all oiled and back together but I think the spirit was with me that day. Any spring that zipped out of my hand, any piece that fell, was going to be gone forever. And I think the innards of that piece were designed by a left handed blind watchmaker who studied under MC Escher.

Runner up to that was the Ruger .22 plinker which like others I found out should not be taken apart.

Ruger MKII, Took me a while to cross my eyes and figure out which side of my mouth to stick out my toungue and how far to get it back together.

Remington 742 total disassembly. Holy crap! What a pain to get that back together!!

Remington Nylon 66. It's where the term "gun in a bag" originated among gunsmiths. Take a look at an exploded diagram of one and you will be amazed.
