A gun shop close to me has 1000 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39, which they have listed at $400.

I have a Bulgarian Makarov 9X18, in good shape. 1 extra mag and 150 rounds of ammo with 2 grips. I didn't have it with me but brough up the possibility of a trade for the ammo.

I highly doubt I can get an even swap but I think I would do Makarov + 100 for the Ammo. The shop is very interested, they are low on firearms and would love to have an inexpensive firearm to add to the used case. I'm sure it would sell within an hour.

I could use 1000 rounds of 7.62. What is the mimimum you would take for the Makarov in this circumstance?

Maks are going for $400 or so by themselves, I would wait on that trade. Ammo will be available again soon. If you just plain don't like the gun, its a decent trade but I think the gunshop would be getting the slight upper hand. d

No no !! Makarovs are highly sought after little guns perfect for concealed carry. AMmo will come by soon, so keep the Makarov.

I would keep the Mak as well. Ammo will be available again and unless you have a real immediate need for some 7.62x39 I would say wait for it to be back on the market.

$400 for a case of 7.62x39 is ridiculous.
That's $0.40 a round, which is about the going rate for 20 round boxes. In bulk, I see a gunbot quote for $360 for a thousand rounds, or $0.36 per round. So a bit high, but not ridiculous. (But add shipping, and that $0.36 might get closer to $0.40.)

Keep the mak. Local walmart still has tula 7.62x39 for.25 cents a round. It will be available soon enough, and you will regret getting rid of the mak long after you shoot the ammo up.

Sounds like you should consider selling the Makarov and everything with it yourself for $450 and purchase the ammunition outright.

They are producing ammo everyday, 24/7. They are NOT making Bulgarian Makarovs anymore......

John

P.S. I picked up (3) boxes of Tulammo at WalMart today for $5.17 per 20rd box. They had 15+ boxes on the shelf- I'll keep pecking at it until its sold out :)
