Magpul Releases M1911 Grips

I thought for sure they'd have the PMag style on them, like everything else they make such as iPhone cases, etc. That'd be cool. These are ugly.

Magpul stuff isn't always pretty, but it's always very impressive ergonomically. That stock for the 870 is whoa. I have a hunch these will be awesome.

Hopefully they'll make them in a left-handed grip...for lefties. The thumb slot in the picture will keep me from buying them.

The most interesting thing that I read was the diamond cross section. I'm interested in handling a set to see how it indexes in the hand

Now I love me some magpul furniture on my AR, but these do nothing for me..

+1

I'm definitely a fan of most MAGPUL products, particularly AR products, but I'll pass on these grips and stick with G10 grips from VZ.

I'm not a fan of the "pebble" texture at all.

If they had the same texture as the MOE or MIAD AR grips, though, I would have been sold.

Magpul have said that is prototype texture, pending the acquisition of tooling to produce the texture you refer to on the carbon composite material used for the grips.

On AR15.com a Magpul rep said the grips are designed to prevent the pistol from twisting when the shooter draws, transitions or reloads. The grips are meant to force the pistol to point straight forward, aligned with the arm, when gripped.

If that's the case, I'll take mine in OD!

Yep... that is one big, ugly and probably very uncomfortable cutout right where my middle finger base joint goes. If I was a righty, for the cheap price, I'd get 'em just to try 'em out.

I'd prefer a smaller thumb rest/notch, but all in all I'm diggin 'em. I don't plan on buying any, I already have rubber panels, but if I didn't I'd try 'em out.

Visually they don't do anything for me. But if they work as well as they claim I would be willing to try a pair at that price point.

I'm really hard pressed to use anything but checkered wood grips on my 1911. I'd have to see these in person but the traditional wood grips fit my hand very well.

Look interesting...kind of like to see a slim version, though.
Stupid question but, these are "rubber-ized" are they?
Grey works for me. Would like to see some more colors.

Not the sexiest 1911 grips, or even close to it. I can't comment as to function. Maybe one day I'll get to try a pair.

I held a pair on a 1911 at the NRA convention today at the Magpul booth. I liked them a lot. They are very thin, but I was not a big fan of the thumb cutout.

I'm a fan of VZ grips but MagPul usually seems to do a good job on the ergonomics.

I like the larger thumb cutout for competition. Not everyone has large hands
