Media request / French tv
Hi,
My name is Malo, I'm a French tv journalist working in New York. I'm writing you because I'm preparing a tv story about guns in the USA. Therefore I'm looking for families whose all members have got guns. Parents and children. Would you be ok to talk to me about that.
Thanks a lot in advance.
You'll find all my contacts below.
Best,
Malo

As you can see, he has zero posts but he sent me this PM.
I have no intentions of participating in this, I just figured I wasn't the only one who got this message.
I figure it's just another anti who is trolling for people to interview.

Anyway, there it is.

well the phone number does trace to NYC.....and a quick google of his email leads to his twitter/ linked in/ ect.......so he does appear to actually be a french journalist.....

now i dont know much about KeepInNews.....but seeing as they are a european news agency.....ide be willing to bet they are not the most gun friendly.

I figure it had to do with a thread or two where I mentioned my daughter having her own .22. He does talk about families where everyone has guns.

I have no intentions of participating in this,
Probably best. Not many journalists today interested in doing a fair, much less positive, story on guns. The children angle makes my spidey senses perk up. Paranoid? Perhaps, but I would be very cautious.

I don't know....I would feel him out. If he is a foreign journalist he already has more credibility that the ones we have here. As far as objectivity, the foreign press has ours beat by a mile, it may be worth giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Ever read or watch other countries news? It is far better than ours. I find myself watching the BBC a lot more than our own "infotainment news".

I would approach with caution, but it may well be genuine. No rants...just the facts.

Heck steer him my way, everyone in my house shoots and is armed, started the kids off at a very young age.:)

Staff had done some checking.

We have found his Linkedin profile. His name is Malo Delarue and he works for an agency called keepinnews.com.

We're put off by the fact that he apparently wasn't completely forthcoming about who he was and who he worked for. In our experience, we would normally have expected a journalist asking for an interview to identified himself using his full name, business address, and media affiliations.

Personally, his lack of candor when bringing up the subject does not inspire confidence.

Just about every "Legit" study or outside observer with official business here tends to take the time to OK things with the mods, establish credentials, and get permission first.

Rarely looks good when our folks have to dig it up for themselves.

Always fun to see the bloodhounds at work though.
