Did some research on prairie dogs

Wait, you're going to make a statement and then tell anyone who wants to read the support for it to do your research for you? Uhhh, that ain't how it works.

I've no doubt that there are some ecological issues of this sort in play, and I'd love to read what information YOU'RE drawing your conclusions from.

And it seems everyone else would as well. So, pretty please with a cherry on top, post the credible supporting information that informs your statements.

What the heck? You won't post anything to support the claims you made? How about eye witness stuff, then..., "I've seen this, or that..."?

Where does your, "It appears..." come from?

I'm not arguing with you or asking you to debate. Post the basis of WHY you think what you said and we'll evaluate those sources. You don't have to defend or debate any of it. Let the data stand on its own!

Yes, flying feathers, I am adept with a keyboard. However, I am also preparing to take 5 engineering finals so I don't have time to go for a wild goose chase.

I am interested in your statement, and I would love to read about it. It seems plausible enough and I am curious. But for goodness sake, cite a reputable source or article and don't expect us to do the dirty work for you... I have enough professors that make me do that.

You are not quite understanding of how this thing works. You make a statement, you back it up. Heck, I wasn't even doubting you to begin with, I just wanted to know if you got your information from an article so that I could read into it more than the several sentences that you gave me.

Az game fish, utah dnr, colorado game, national wildlife federation, there is plenty who think the loss are having a bafdeffect on ecosystems

And this does absolutely nothing for me. The fact that they "think" is less than satisfying. Being an engineer, I want to see data to back up a claim.... If I followed the "thinking" line of reason, then I would be preparing for an Alien invasion, a zombie outbreak, and a catastrophic end of the world...

There is plenty of prairie dogs. Shoot as many as you want. There is an endless supply.

In Arizona, prairie dogs are managed by Game and Fish. There is no bag limit on prairie dogs and they can be hunted on a general hunting license with no other special permits or fees. So they don't make any money off of prairie dog eradication. The season is 9 months long (approximately), it closes a few months I presume for either breeding or baby-vermin-rendering. Seems to me that if they were unhappy with population decline, they would regulate it closer than allowing unlimited bag limits and a 9 month season.

Hey, if they would stay out of livestock pastures, I bet fewer of them would die by human. You strike me as a prairie dog-whisperer of sorts Flyingfeathers... maybe you should have a chat with them?

Feathers, I'm actually quite interested here... being from Texas, I was under the impression that most of our raptors supplimented their diet quite heavily with carrion. With that in mind, I actually only have one serious question: What beer are you drinking tonight? Because Shiner Bock is delicious.

Eyewitness report

I've been in prairie dog fields in NM the last four days. Eagles and owls are sighted more often now than in the last 25 years I have hunted... dog shooting is great too.
Please send more ammo.

5 engineering finals...

Ah, I remember those days fondly, to paraphrase: " They were the best of times, they were the worst of times"...

But mostly the 'best' of times :)

Best of luck to you!

This is one of the strangest and most difficult-to-follow threads I have ever encountered; on THR or any forum for that matter. All I can gather is flying feathers is into xxx (moonshine or movies or both) and has some kind of opinion regarding prairie dogs; or maybe not. I don't know. good night. It will be all better in the morning.

For lack of even a point of substance on which to have a discussion -- closed.

Shame, I think we could have had a worthwhile discussion.

If anyone does find any data on this, send me a PM and I'll open it back up.
