What do you do and how long to wait?

Lets say hypothetically :neener: that you received a shipment from a well known online retailer. In this said delivery you received an extra box of bullets. You tried calling their toll free number over 20 times with nothing but a busy signal. You have emailed them a couple times to no avail either.

What if anything would you do more than this?

How long do you wait until you load the bullets up, if at all?

Tough one. I would make sure that I didn't have any other orders in with them because this might be part of that. Other than that, you have done your due diligence. Give them 60 days and if no word, then load em up

I would make certain that I didn't have any "back orders" with the vendor and check the credit card/debit account for an extra charge for the extra box of bullets.

If this was your only current active order with the vendor, I would first check my credit card/debit account to see if there was an extra charge for the box of bullets. If so, no issues and I would use the bullets. If not, I would email the vendor and request them to run a charge for the extra box of bullets and use the bullets while waiting for the reply.

I would take it as a good will gesture or a bonus from the vendor and:

Choot'm Elizabet! Choot'm!!

Your time is worth more then the bullets, IF you already tried to call them 20 times & e-mailed them twice.

Was it me?
They would have to pay me for my time by now, or come get them out of a dirt bank.

I had this happen to me.

There was no "panic" going on at the time and I got right through to them. They told me to keep them and don't worry about it.

Hypothetically, I'd send 'em back. ;)

I would say wait to hear from the emails. My dad always told me you are honest or you are not. You, sir, appear to commendably honest. Don't change what your conscience is telling you so that you end up losing sleep. If you haven't heard in 2 months, do as your conscience tells you. I applaud you for your morals.

Yes, but, he is the only one in the country that honest.

And he is way too honest to run for any political office.
Even as a small town dog catcher!

Say, we could use a man like you in the White House.

Nope. I wouldn't be able to take the pandering. I run a tight budget with very little compromise. They would also run me out for saying that I spoke to God about everything.

Though NFA and many other gun laws would be looked at....to be abolished. I am too "radical" to run the Country.

I am honest but they don't get 60 days...probably half that. By then load development will be done with the other 500. Everything will be on their dime, including some time on my end if they want them back.

Personally, I would send them back along with a note. Honesty and virtue will take you much further in life over the long run. But that's just me.

If you are certain they are in error, you could

a) send them some $$, knowing that eventually you'll be glad you got them and will use them
b) what caliber are they? if you are tight for cash, sell them! and then send them the money.

Either way, you are happy and so are they.

I would wait for a couple months to see if they even read their emails anymore.:) Then try at least one more time with the phone and email before giving up on them. Then shoot them up. In the future you could email them and offer to pay for them at the price when you found them in your box. If you just send them back most vendors will not accept anything without a RMA number anymore so not worth doing. There is a limit on patience, then it is no longer a question of honesty but their ineptitude.:scrutiny:

I had that happen once with one of our much loved cast bullet vendors here. I was told to keep them and enjoy shooting them. I think my orders since the have well accounted for the loss they suffered.

Back in 2009 I had waited for Blackthorne to ship some AR kits for a few months and then cancelled my order and got a refund. I then ordered elsewhere (which took almost 6 months to arrive). While waiting for my second order to arrive, I received the Blackthorne order for which they had given me my money back. So there I was with a couple of very hard-to-get AR kits that I hadn't paid for. I went ahead and cut them another check for the kits and put the kits to good use. I could have just kept my mouth shut and they probably never would have caught the mistake, but I couldn't do that.

Send them a certified letter with return receipt asking for a call tag. If you don't hear from them within 30 days, it's yours.

At 16 years old, my buddy ordered 30 feet of cannon fuze for diddling around and making underwater firecrackers.

The year, 1972.

He called me when the order came in.

He received 3,000 ft.

What did he do?

He sold me 500 feet for 5 bucks and kept the rest.

True story. It lasted me for decades and my buddy in Tucson still has some off of MY ROLL!

Continue.......

I tend to agree with those who say you should send them back... with one reservation. Shipping will not be cheap, and ethics does not demand that we pay extra for someone else's mistake.

Hexhead said, "Send them a certified letter with return receipt asking for a call tag. If you don't hear from them within 30 days, it's yours."

I agree with that. If they do reply, offer to return the merchandise, shipping to be paid by the retailer.

Let's make this very simple.
What bullets are they?
Do you own a firearm which uses these bullets?
Would you purchase these bullets at the price they are selling them at?
If you answered yes to all of the above send them a check or money order for the cost of the bullets. Attach a copy of your last invoice and a note that the extra box of bullets was in it.
