Will be picking up my XDs 9mm tomorrow.

Thanks! I couldn't be happier about my decision to wait out the 9mm version of this pistol.

What I don't like about the XDs9 is it's alot wider than it needs to be. It uses the same slide dimensions as the 45, which it was obviously made for.

Not sure I would agree with that. It is already pretty thin, . . . and for me, when a gun gets TOO thin, it feels like there isn't really enough grip to hold onto. It's already around 7/8", so I find it to be about the perfect IWB pistol. If it is pocket carry you're after, then yeah, you may want something even skinnier and lighter.

But WITH the thinner and lighter, . . . it will [by the laws of physics] be more snappier. One of the things I love about this XDs 9mm is how well it actually handles the recoil impulse. Very controlable, and pretty quick for follow up shots, if needed.

This is what my recoil spring looks like after just shy of 700 rounds. The damage seems to be self-limiting - that is, it has looked roughly the same since about the hundredth round. I just wondered if the 9mm version is as rough on the spring.

Nice report. I am also intrigued by this gun, and have to add it to my short list for single stack, compact 9MM's.

Very nice. I own its 4.5 inch brother. I was thinking hard about picking up an XDs, but I think I might go another route for now.

An XDs 9mm managed to follow me home from the fun show yesterday. I've had no time to hardly even look at it, but I'm hopeful that it will become a reliable small carry gun to replace my Ruger LC9. I broke down and ordered one extended mag directly from Springfield because I couldn't find them anywhere else, I certainly paid a premium on this mag.

Yep, just got one myself. Very nice. My wife doesn't shoot much at all but managed to put 21 shots in a row into her target. Boy was she happy! (and me too):D

Picked mine up on Monday. I've put almost 200rds through it so far, great shooter. I'm hoping the trigger breaks in a little more though, is a bit heavier than the 45 models I've shot (but they were extensively broken in).

FatPants, I'm sure it will. I think I may have gotten a bit lucky with my trigger. Not heavy at all [at least to me]. I suggest a snap cap and evenings of dryfiring. :)

Exactly. I plan to have the XDs replace my Ruger LC9, which is one snappy SOB. The slightly extra girth and weight of the XDs feels perfect for a single stack sub compact, I can't wait to get out and shoot it.

I've not had the opportunity to shoot an LC9, so I can't compare the difference between it and the XDs 9mm. I didn't find the XDs to be snappy at all. . . . . but having said that, it is subjective. . . because maybe I wouldn't find the LC9 very snappy either. In other words, a lot of reports can only be subjective in several aspects of the gun.

I DID shoot a guy's Sig P938, a while back, and that pistol WAS more snappy.

I have not shot the XDs, but I have shot the S&W Shield, pf9, and LC9. I can say that the Shield is the softest shooting pocketable 9mm I have shot. I want the XDs just to have a second small 9mm and I like the look and feel of the XDs.

{just sitting here with XDs envy}

I put 150 rounds thru my new XDs this afternoon, and I am in love with it. It shoots very well for its size. I usually can't stand my pincky finger hanging off the end of the grip with compact guns, but for some reason with this one it doesn't bother me at all. The trigger feels very "Glockesque," which is what I was hoping for, just a bit lighter. No problems at all to speak with 3 different types of ammo. I think this one may be a keeper.

I had a chance to shoot the XD9 a couple weeks ago, and it was a very fun gun to shoot. The only probably I had with it was that it absolutely REFUSED to shoot reloads. Ordinarily, I'd blame the ammo, but the reloader in question is a retired reloader for the army, so I hate to doubt his expertise.

That being said, I've never had an issue while shooting factory ammo.
Wow, and my XD9 3.3" shoots all my reloads and never an issue. Isn't funny how 2 exact guns can shoot so differently? It may be it just doesn't like those particular reloads.

I have the same experience. My XD9 eats anything with enough powder in it.

That certainly does not look right. Have you contacted Springfield about it?

No, I haven't. As I said, it seems to be self limiting - it hasn't gotten any worse since about 100-150 rounds in. Folks on xdtalk are reporting they've spoken to Springfield and that's considered "normal" for the .45 model. Doesn't bother me but I might get another recoil spring assembly down the road.

Captains1911, I normally don't like my pinky hanging off either, but had no control problems with mine. Seems like Springfield Armory hit it out of the park with this design.

It is my second striker fired pistol, . . . . may be my only one, depending on how another gun goes . . . . . which I know is cryptic, but is not important to the topic. Anyway, I'm not all that excited about the striker fire design. This one will have to do, though, because I couldn't find a better layout for conceal carry than this one [with the added security of the grip safety]. But I am more of a hammer guy.
