Is talking about our guns a good idea with big surveillance govt?

Honestly, I don't care if they track me. They will be bored to tears. Don't get me wrong, the invasion of privacy and breach of rights is totally wrong. But whoever is watch me is going to hate their life. I am not hiding from anyone... And if you are not on at least one watch list you are doing something wrong.

I have never doubted that someone is monitoring gun related websites. Long before the recent incidents in Washington. The mangement here I think is very much aware of that and it is my belief that is the reason why this site is closely moderated. I don't always agree with some of the thread closings, but understand why it is necessary when I look at the big picture.

Blackstone is correct in that those are probably words, among many others, that get someones attention. It is easy to make a statement saying I really don't say much or they will be bored with what they get from me but the reality is it is electronic data and just stop and think about it. Electronic data leaves a computer goes to a server somewhere, gets intercepted between the sending and receiving server - so what happens to the data in the meantime? I think there is far too much opportunity to do something to electronic data no matter who the person is.

and here I was expecting someone to see a list of phrases that would get people in trouble.. lol. Guess its the smart alec in me... Im not skittish... I have always assumed they are watching electronically. Hell, I could hear them pop in and out of my cell phone conversations on 9/12. I'd always welcome them to the conversation, give a brief synopsis, and invite them to join in.. usually would hear the jack back out around that time... My dad (who I was on the phone with usually) didn't find it nearly as funny. I suspect they've got to better methods besides a physical patch now.. haven't heard that all to familiar pop in a bit. Ironically, never got better reception than that week. Had a full extra 2-3 bars over usual in those mountains at the time.

I'm an organic chemist. The things I look up for academic, scientific, or research purposes would probably give Big Brother a heart attack.

Im have no valid research

My profession doesnt require me to research anything alarming... but i do, because its there. I watch videos of poeple getting hit by buses, and beheadings, and shoot outs with cops... And I've read a few recipes online that would make me look to be someone who wants to use those recipes. Its mearly informative... But man, If someone ever profiled me based on my search history... I'd probably look like one deranged puppy.

I post the same stuff on gun forums that I would say face to face, if anyone was interested in listening; most people are not "into" guns any more than I'm "into" mowing the yard.

If anyone is paying attention to what I post, good; send me monetary compensation for my intellectual sharing.

Do a Google or Bing search of your name. You might be surprised in what the INTERNET can come up with on you in less then a second...and that's a general browser search. Think of what the Govt' could do. :neener:

If your on a gun board your on their list,i got on a list simply because I lived in AZ and bought 2 firearms. I had/have a CCW and no record but that made no difference to them.

Stand up, be heard, and fight. Never apologize for being a gun owner and exercising your 2nd Amendment rights.

Can't win by hiding and hoping.

+1 Walkalong. Give me liberty or give me death.

The 'total state' has been enabled by the increasingly cheap cost of tracking habits and preferences via computer. Most of this power is used to drive comsumption in the service of capitalism. As I see it, my being 'outed' as a gun nut mostly will cause me to be subjected to gun nut marketing of products and services. I long ago gave up on the 'what if' of hiding. Our numbers and net footprint make us (likely) the biggest single-issue voting bloc in history. I ~VOTE~ on the 2nd aqnd make sure politicos know that I do.

We on The High Road discuss our firearms, our rights under the Constitution and our liberties given to us by the USA and the founding fathers and many that gave their life for it for decades....

Compile your data ... It is not gonna change!

We either Stand Up For The above or...

Become Sheeple that desire to follow the destruction of it! ....

X-Rap is on to the near-term danger. What if Nixon had this to spy on his political opponents? What if Hoover had this to collect dirt on every member of congress? This could completely destroy our political process, long before it is used against gun owners. I wouldn't want my dream choice for president to have this much power, much less the people likely to get elected.
