Limited to One Handgun

This has been brought up so many times I have lost count and it gives me the same sick feeling each time...

I would really rather not even think about the premise as there are politicians here who would love to do this to us if not just ban handguns or for that matter all guns outright. So rather than even accept the thought of it or discuss "what if", lets just make sure it never happens by voting against anti gun politicians every chance you get. From county dog catcher on up to the White House you need to make that your policy and convince others to do the same. That is how we make sure this never happens.

oh, boy... personal preference prevails...

Can't go wrong with a Hi-Power but I would like a Sig P226 with 9mm, 40, 357 barrels and 22 conversion slide.

If size/conceal-ability was an issue then the 239 would be my choice, although I conceal my 226 on a regular basis (not in summer very much, though).

From what I have read, South Africa limits you to one handgun and maybe a couple hundred rounds of ammo. If you can own it, you can carry it. It looks like if you are a competition shooter, you can have more handguns. I'm sure some South American countries have the same practice.

Some politicians here would love for Americans to be limited like that.

I'd pick my Glock 33, in .357 Sig. Add a .40 S&W barrel, add a Lone Wolf 9mm barrel and some 9mm magazines, and a AACK .22 unit and some .22 magazines!

YES, FOUR GUNS IN ONE!

Same can be done to the Glock 32 or 23, 22 or 31 (mid and full sized Glocks.)

Well, assuming it's in a foreign country, and all holds the same...

It would have to be 9mm, high capacity, and with a good reputation.

Either a P226 or a G17.

Sig P250 compact. Small enough to CCW, large enough to aim accurately, 15+1 capacity. Modular system allows you to swap frames/bbls/mags for different size handguns *all w/the same serial #* (FS, compact, subcompact).

9mm is about the only ammo readily available world wide. Try finding 45, 40, 10mm, 357 mag, or 357 Sig in most any other country. Most of it is hard enough to find here right now. Imagine having that problem all of the time. I'd choose whatever 9mm were commonly available in that location. A Glock 19 if possible.

I guess if I could only have one, then I would have to keep one of my 1911 frames, along with the .22, 9mm, 38 super, 40 S&W, 45ACP, and 45 Super top ends.

Those same countries that limit your guns also limit you from owning military calibers. That would further complicate choices.

Limited to one handgun or rifle thread...Why?!!? I live in America. Presently I don't have that problem. And I really don't care how it is in other countries.

Can't we come up with better questions like how do we solve OUR problems?

In some foreign countries, you are limited to one handgun for self defense. You can carry that handgun, keep at home for protection, and shoot it at the range, but you are limited to one handgun.
Assuming this is strictly a SD/HD gun and their are no other restictions on brands, chambering or ammo type and availability, I would probably chose the Glock 19. Small enough for CC but not so small as to impair grip and handling. A reasonably effective choice with modern, high-performance JHP rounds.

What handgun would you choose when limited to one?

If I was limited to one gun I'd take it and go find the person who keeps asking this question. Then I'd take their one gun and that way I'd have two. So what kind of one gun do you have?

This thread again? Has it been a month already?

There are repetitive questions/subjects such is the nature of a forum. One may choose to simply ignore the question/subject being posed without offending the OP. If one is a member of a forum over a long period of time there are numerous repetitive questions/subjects along with answers.:)

At least this one conceded that fact that some people (SA) can only have one carry gun. A half new twist for some to wrap their brain around.

this is a legitimate question because not everyone is blessed with the means to own multiple guns and with the recent rush to buy guns many newbies may only choose to own one gun, that may be hard for gun guys to wrap their head around but we live in different times now.
