I'm not interested in the PPK/S.

I don't see why. The PPK/S is a modified PPK to meet the import points and often considered the superior firearm. The only differences are the S is 4mm taller, 2 oz heavier and holds one more round in the magazine. But different strokes for different folks. I am not interested in the PPK/S either. Since S&W started production they have been plagued with recalls.

IIRC the magazines are made by Mec-Gar anyways, so regardless of where Walther sets up its plants they're coming from Italy.

I avoid Mec-Gear. I have had issues with their magazines on some other firearms and as a result I only get factory magazines. More money but less problems in my experience.

Yeah that's a good one, but I almost trade electricity and plumbing for a darn good football coach. And basketball for that matter.

Maybe y'all can get Spike Dykes to come up then and teach y'all's hillbilly young'uns how to play football. I remember back in the 50's those pig chasers could play. LOL!!

Actually, it is more accurate to say that the PPK/s is a modified PP ... PP frame plus the shorter PPK barrel & slide. It sports a noticably different feel from the PPK.

I have owned examples of all 3 over the past ~35 years. I was able to use the same Pachmayr rubber grips on both my PP and PPK/s, but the grip design of the PPK is too different to lend itself to Pachmayr making the same types of grip for it. Because of this, I think that most depend upon either Hogue or bicycle inner tube rubber for PPK grip enhancers.

I think you missed my point. The "factory" Walther P99 magazines are made by MecGar. Walther doesn't make them - they have MecGar make them and stamp Walther on them.

Exactly why I don't want it. I want the James Bond original, not the bastardized version the government thinks I should have.

The PPK is no longer made. Here or in Germany. The PPK/S is made in the United States by Smith and Wesson. So their is no more import restriction on it.

What? Not according to Walther's website. http://www.waltherarms.com/products/handguns/ppk/

I think the end of the PPK would be the end of an era, and I think it would have been widely known. And I have never heard this. Sources, please?

Walter

Back in '83, I lived in Camden, downwind from the fragrant Paper Mill for a few months.:scrutiny: We often traveled through Eldorado.

Once the plane landed on the ELD runway and hit a hypnotized deer. The mechanics drove from Camden to repair the Shorts 360's damaged wing strut. In Arkansas, at least some guys appreciated runway kill, when they drove the dead animal home to be processed.

Old news. I have already seen couple PPKs .22s at local gun show. It was made in USA but not in ME USA if I recall correctly.

No, the new PPKs 22s are made in Germany, not in the US. They are made at the German Umarex plant

I stand corrected. I was thinking the PPK/S replaced the PPK in production. Looks like I am not living up to my moniker in this thread.

As good a reason as any.

Good job in getting Walther, Ark.:)

I would also like to apologize to the good people of Ark that they ever had to be exposed to the biggest lying drunk in the history of the state of GA - lewis lizzard.

They have had a plant there since 2010. This is an expansion. I see this as particularly significant relative to 2A issues. The decision was made years ago.

Great that they see an improving firearms market in the USA.
