I am looking for a good rest to strap some things in for sighting in rifles and whatnot. Can someone recommend something good? I looked at some of the Hyskore models but they all have bad reviews. The lead sled plus looks ok and has decent reviews but looks cheaply made to me.

My vote is for cheap sandbags and a folding table of some sort.

If you can't learn to shoot off sandbags well enough to sight in a rifle and shoot MOA groups at 100 yards?

You will never learn to shoot well enough to make clean kills in the field from various positions using a tree or backpack for support.

Clamping a rifle in a vice to sight it in is akin to sending in your brother to sub for you on your honeymoon!

Sounds like you're wanting something to hold a rifle dead solid and stable, for repeatability shot after shot? I seriously doubt there is such a thing, or that you'd want to pay the price for it.

I have an older Lead Sled, and while it provides a steady shooting platform, the rifle will NOT stay in place. It will most definitely jump and require each shot to be re-sighted and re-steadied. But if you do so carefully, it will work well enough. Time-consuming PITA though, I usually just use my Caldwell bags.

Even if that were possible?

The rifle would not shoot to the same zero when hand held up against your shoulder.

I use homemade sandbags, a Caldwell The Rock, or Harris bipod in the front and Protektor rabbit or bunny ear bag in the rear....The combo I pick depends on the rifle and bench.

It doesn't sound like you are looking for the bench rest route.

I used to use empty Lawrence brand lead shot bags for sand bags.

If they are not filled full they can be squished into shapes that will fit any rifle stock type.

I shot many incredible groups with that set up.

Another vote for a Caldwell "The Rock" in front and a rabbit or bunny ear rear sandbag in the back. With a little experimentation in technique, you should be able to shoot to the limits of the rifle.

I have yet to meet a benchrest shooter that uses a Lead Sled in competition.

Just my .02,
