I has been several long days on the press, but 3998 rounds later I have all my 9mm loaded up. I am not sure where I lost the last two pieces of brass, but so be it. I was cranking about 1000 to 1200 rounds per day on the press over the weekend so I could get it done and switched over to 357 Maximum.

I will do the change over tonight so I can start loading the Max.

I now have all of my non-starline 357Sig loaded, all 9mm, almost all 380Auto (found a few in my 9mm's). I still have a bunch of 38 Super loaded up so I will switch to Max and break up the box of 2000 pieces I have for it.

I tend to load in batches. All of one caliber then move on to the next one. My plan is to do some of my standard 357 Max (hot load of 4227 with a 180 grn Lead SWC), then some 38/44's (above current book max load of 4756 and a 158 SWC), then make a series of experiments with the 357 Magnum and the 158 Lead SWC and Jacketed JHP.

So anyone else sharing the joy of a long loading session and saying its done?

Well, on a smaller scale I have recently finished a couple of cartridge batches. But I load on a single stage presses, so I don't get any where near the volume. I just finished up 500 pieces of 9mm JHP, 500 .40 cal. JHP, and 500 .357's JHP.

But I also did a load development for a 700 in 6mm Rem with a new bullet. I haven't yet put them all together, but I have finished the development process and have everything all dialed in, brass is completely finished being prepped. Now all I have left to do is to charge and seat a couple hundred rounds.

And just finished getting a new Ruger American in 270 win. broken in, load development is finished, and I have a couple hundred rounds ready for the fall hunting season.

The 7mm RM will be easy because I have worked up and dialed in multiple different loads that perform beautifully. Brass is already prepped and ready to go.

I don't care for long reloading sessions. I keep 500 rounds loaded for each caliber that I shoot and reload them as I use them.

WOW. That is INTENSE! I loaded 700 .357 Magnums in one day and that was enough for me...!

My normal session usually runs anywhere from 50 (rifle) to 200-300 (handgun).

That's quiet a marathon! I started loading in "batches" a few months ago. I sat down and loaded every .45 acp I had, then moved to the next caliber. On and on it went. I spent every night for a week out in the garage and it's nice to see the pile of ammo at the end of it.

Now I need to go shoot so I can do some more reloading!

Don't want to be Mr. PartyPooper here... but you DID make 4,000 rounds of ammo where you know for sure that your guns like them, right? I once make (only) 200 rounds of 9mm with lead bullets for a 1960's Walther P38 only to find out that it did not like that particular mfg's lead at all...

Count, Peter shoots 5 figures worth of ammo every year. I think by this point he's figured out what he likes.

That quite the grind, my friend. I have enough bullets, primers & powder to do a 4,000 round grind, just not the brass. I figure it's reusable and what I have in brass will go 4k, eventually, after shooting once or three times.

Most I've done in one session was 1500 rounds of 38 Special for a shooting class.

My largest single burst of reloading was 318 rounds of .223 and .40 on a weekend back in 2012. That probably took (with brass prepped and primed, I would imagine) four or five hours spread out over several sessions.

I'm strictly SS and don't shoot anything like that kind of volume.

I'll do 500 to 700 or so at one sitting, but then I want a break. The last time I did a bunch of the same load (2000), I did it in three days. :)

Yikes!! Most Ive loaded at one time is 100 9mm, and 50 .38 special and 25 .357... My back started getting sore at that point so i quit... What press you load on?

that is what i like to do. load in large batches. then change over the dillon to an other caliber. i do around 2k at a time in pistol. rifle not so much, mostly 200 to 300 at a time because i still to rifle on a single stage press.

Got 3,000 rounds of 38 Super sitting under the Dillon that needs to get stuffed... Not looking forward to it but alas, it is inevitable.

I have 1500 pieces of primed and sized 38spl ready for when i finally get a chance to send back my lee six banger mold where I broke the sprue plate nut clean off. I tend to like to prime and size cases as I wait for lead to cast the boolits, but for 45, I guess ill load em as I empty em as I casted up 3,150 230 grain boolits over the weekend. Meant to save some lead for 38 boolits but I got carried away haha, guess I gotta do another tire shop lead sweep south of me...

I load in batches as well, but back problems (and I don't care what kind of super loading chair I use) make it a painful exercise for anything over an hour. On my Dillon 550B's, that's 200 or so....plenty for my home range and an afternoon's fun and games with friends. Rod:)

Hey Peter,
Good job! That sounds like a busy weekend. I hope you are using a progressive! ;-)

I did much the same this weekend. It was hot here and my cool basement/press was calling me. I've bought several target .38s and had run out of my standard load (148g HBWC in front of 2.7g Bullseye). I had everything in hand and pushed 1,450 rounds off the press. Yep, I gotta Progressive too...it's fantastic to be able to run a bunch out.

Say, you still have that old 8 3/8" pre-27? That was a pretty revolver.

I did 200 9mm on my Pro 1000 on Saturday. I did 200 .223 on a Lee handheld press, and 100 .308 on the same, on Sunday. My hat is off to you.

anyone else sharing the joy of a long loading session and saying its done

I enjoy short reloading sessions, then a nap.

Seriously, what kind of equipment are you using? I gather it's not single stage stuff.

I made up 200 .303 Brit rounds once, with 174gr. FMJBT's, and then found out my Enfields don't like BT bullets. Every shot keyholed flat against the target. Had to pull them all down, that made my jaws tight.....

I tend to load whatever bullets I have for handgun until they're all loaded, or I run out of brass. I've actually shot factory loads to get more brass to put my bullets in.

When you count your prepped brass by the 5 GAL bucket loading it all would be a chore. I will spent the late fall early winter evenings prepping/loading my ammo and then spend the next summer shooting it up.:) BTW I use a SS or turret press and load in multiple 60 hole loading blocks. I try to limit it to 500--750 rounds a night as there is really no hurry to complete the job. Quality over quantity is my way. Bet you were glad when it was over with.:D
The only ones I dread are the 25 ACP rounds with my big clumsy fingers.:D

Wow !
I finally got all my supplies to reload the 557 - 9MM cases and the 326 - 45ACP that I had been gathering over the last couple months,
I started this past weekend on Friday afternoon, then would come back to it in 2-hour sessions over the whole weekend, I finally finished up last night about 11:30 ,
I suppose I had a total of about 15-16 hours into that project, and its got me convinced that IF I am going to reload my pistol cases, I will buy a progressive reloader as doing it 1-step at a time with the ol' RCBS single stage really sucked !!
Towards the end I would come back and sit down, look at the pile of brass, and wonder what I was doing......
I will now reload in smaller batches to prevent burnout !!

Yesterday I finished loading 9mm also. Used up the last of my bullets and down to less than 100 SP primers. Probably close to 4k rd in stock. I usually load in batches of 100, sometimes 200. Have a Dillon SquareDeal but removed the priming system as, no matter how carefully it is adjusted it loves to flip primers. Great for sizing, charging and seating but the primer system has been erratic. 9mm bras is no problem to obtain. The range where is shoot is usually littered with the stuff.

I've done that and it sucks!!! I'm too detached to spend 2 hours pulling bullets!
