Hey guys,

Long time lurker on the forum, but figured I would post up my latest find. Stopped by the LGS today on a whim after work as they have finally been able to replenish some of their inventory. Saw they had a Kel-Tec PMR 30 in the case, clerk said they got 2 in yesterday afternoon and one already sold this morning. Had a price tag of $369 so I scooped it up (usually their prices are wickedly high so I was pleasantly surprised). Had always been intrigued by the concept of 22mag in a handgun, and a 30 round mag is pretty sweet.

I see they are listing on gunbroker for $600-800, but really have no intention to sell. It will probably be just a range toy; I know they can be picky with ammo. Father in law has had good luck with one he got 1-2 yrs ago. Any thoughts? Give a shout with any experience you've had with them, good or bad.

I've had one for about two years and love it. My go to handgun for work around the place, woods loafing, packing light for a road trip. No issues after the first magazine or so. Read and follow the directions for loading the magazines.

I've been watching the PMR-30 for a while now, and I've seen a lot of good reviews. I'd be really interested in reading your own.

I own an AMT Automag II, a 9 round .22 Magnum that's a real sweet pistol. Slim, light, incredibly accurate and reliable and a real beauty to shoot. Plenty of power, too. My 13 year old daughter took an instant liking to it the first time she saw it a couple weeks ago and absolutely loves it on the range.

I admit to wanting to pick up a PMR-30 as well, and the 30 round capacity is a strong appeal. However, the looks of the pistol just doesn't quite have the aesthetic appeal that makes me say "I'd go for that!"

Perhaps your review will tip the scales!

:)

Thx guys. I do feel pretty lucky to have found this guy. I would love to do a range report if I can find some "mythic" 22mag ammo to feed it. By me it's almost as scarce as the gun!

Where are you located?

I travel a lot between SC and VA. I'm sure that I can spare a box or two out of the 70-plus I have on hand if you were in traveling distance. And for a reasonable trade in value, too...I think I paid between 7 and 8 bones a box back when I was stocking up a few years back. Winchester Super-X, 40 gr. JHP.

Lemme know.

:)

I really appreciate the offer. If I was closer I would totally buy a few boxes off of you. Unfortunately though I'm up in southeastern MI. I usually end up buying ammo in large quantities off the Internet to stretch the most out of my dollar. Walmart also still has relatively decent prices. I haven't done much serious looking yet, but will likely get going on that soon. If not, I might bum some off my father-in-law as I know he's always kept his PMR well fed, lol.

Congrats, and welcome to the club.
Got my first in 2010, second in 2011, both for less than MSRP.
they run great, are accurate and will eat any diet after break-in. ( I don't use import ammo)
Personally, I like the way they look, their size, and weight.
If you don't absolutly love it......sell it to me! LOL!

If it wasn't for photo-editing software, I'd demand a picture of you holding the gun and a newspaper with today's date on it..! :D

Seriously, good catch. Enjoy it. Around these parts, the ammo isn't hard to come by (I use it now and then in my Rough Rider.)

I love mine but ammo has been almost impossible to find locally. I was able to pick up a box last week for a paltry $15:( This was one of the calibers I didn't load up on before the panic hit so I can't shoot it as much as I would like right now.
Mine has been nearly perfect running CCI 40 grain.

SE MI? I think Double Action in Madison Heights may have some, but all their ammo is for "range use only". Meaning you have to use their range in order to buy ammo.

Thanks, that's good to know...seems like a racket though. Some of these gun shops will go to great lengths to stick it to you. There's another one in the area that won't let you bring in your own 5.56 ammo on the range given concern for "steel core". So I couldn't use the pmc bronze I brought. But what do u think I had to buy from them for range ammo? You guessed it, pmc bronze. The clerk at the counter was pretty embarrassed to say the least.

A little heads up...

I frequently travel between SC and VA and often check out various Walmarts along the way. Ammunition has been getting easier to find, including .22 Mag. Just found a store a couple days ago that had a dozen boxes of CCI .22 Maxi-Mags for $12.XX a box.

Have patience! Things are getting better!

:)

Congrats. I usually see them turn up at houston area gun shows all the time. But, no where else... (no actual gun store)

Yeah, I've started to comb the typical local places for 22mag ammo like Walmart, Dicks, Dunhams, etc. no luck yet...think I used it all up finding the gun! I'm sure some will turn up though. Range report pending ammo!

My Dad ordered one of these when they first came out for $300 but the gun shop went out of business before he got it. He did get his deposit back though.

Those things are as rare as hen's teeth, around here. You did great. I'd love to try one. 30 rounds of 22 magnum in a flush fitting magazine, is pretty attractive.

You an find .22 mag ammo online using gunbot. They usually show 2-3 online sites that have it every day for $14.99 or so which is about what you will pay locally right now. Cabela's online hs it regularly.

I recently saw one, and at a good price also. I am sure it works fine, but it did feel a bit toy like to me, however, for that money it seemed fine, and I know Kel-Tec stands behind their products.

Have fun with yours. I do like the concept.
