I have a range friend that's has a Marlin lever action in .45 Colt that's he trying to sell me. Very nice condition. I'm interested but I can only find pistol data for .45 Colt in my Hornady and Speer manuals . This rifle would be used for hunting so I would like established rifle loads for .45 Colt. Any help ? thank you hdbiker

The Marlin was developed to use factory-loaded ammo, which is designed for handguns. The carbines are just large handguns.
Just load handgun ammo that cycles through, and it will be more powerful, and easier to hit with, than a revolver would be.
The real problem with loading "rifle loads" is that if the pressure is high enough to be of any value over pistol, it COULD be fired in a handgun...with disasterous results.
Have fun,
Gene

I have two Marlin 1894 Cowboy rifles in .45 Colt. They are both very, very accurate and a joy to handle. Use any pistol load, or get the Lyman manual, since it lists loads for 7 different bullets in the rifle section of the data.

Hope this helps.

Fred

"...Hornady and Speer manuals..." Lyman is your friend. They make neither bullets nor powder. Makes their book far more versatile.
