The gun hobby crowd needs a better image

since I own and shoot the answer is obvious

Since we have no freaking idea whether or not you own and shoot, or if you're a freaking troll, the answers are not obvious. This is the internet friend. You can portray yourself as whatever you want. Doesn't mean squat.

With whom are you even having a conversation? Your robo-posts are quite incoherent. You certainly are doing a poor job of representing yourself so I don't think we need you representing the rest of us. By extension, I don't think you are qualified to tell us who should be representing our interests either. Sorry.

I like shooting and have owned enough guns, but the NRA doesnt give a good image of shooters, more about gun profits..and Ted Nugent would do the hunting and shooting crowd a favor by being quiet and staying home. Doesnt surprise me that many Americans are not seeing those two activities in a favorable light.

If you don't like the NRA's "feel," the NSSF has a very different "feel" to their advocacy, even though they're objective stances on policy issues tend to be very similar to the NRA's.

So how 'bout you become the spokesman?

Ted once told an interviewer and a woman producer on the set "suck his stick"(actually dick) without any provocation...looked real classy for all those who saw the CBS interview..tastless, crude bastard..anyone going to defend that act in the name of guns and hunting?

As if advocating for disarmament isn't advocating for slavery to the state. These people want absolute power and losing one's temper with them IS appropriate. We really should not be polite any longer because doing so makes them think they can get away with their agenda.

Whatever it is these people want to do to the US requires that guns be removed from the hands of the average citizen. Until then, they have to move slowly and quietly.

Were Ted Nugent's parents unwed at the time of his birth, or are you just being tasteless yourself?

true, everyone will express themselves....I wish they wouldnt promote themselves as an 'official spokesman' if they are careless with their words and actions. I dont like WP as the spokesman for the NRA, he can say some good lines but often acts defensive and he uses too much fourth grade level language.

"Kettle, this is pot. You're black."

I have gun maker catalogs that go back before the 50's. Many of the pictures include shooting with your children, giving your kids a gift of a gun for birthday or christmas, pictures of a kids bedroom with a gun rack on the wall.

What's more upstanding and wholesome than spending time doing responsible activities with your kids?

It doesn't matter if God himself came down from heaven on a white horse strapped with a peacemaker and a Winchester in one hand and the reins in the other.

Feinstein, Schumer, Bloomberg, Pelosi, Brady and every other anti gun nut would be there holding signs that read "Its for the children, but not Chicago children"

Gun control is control. Having a pretty face representing gun rights means nothing, if you disagree refer back to my first paragraph.

Leave the useless idea of convincing people they are wrong at the curb.

Am I the only one who's somewhat confused? The NRA does some stuff that irritates me, but I think they do a very good job advocating for 2A, RKBA, firearms safety, and shooting sports.

Full disclosure: I'm an NRA Instructor.

This seems like just another average, maybe below average, "I hate the NRA" thread. A handful of very non-specific negative gripes, no constructive suggestions for specific changes, appeals to the good ol' days when...whatever, aspersions cast at areas of the gun community which don't match the OP's particular kinks, lots of overstated concern about what "the public" thinks without any real quantifiable measure of the impact that has on our rights, subtle shifting of the negativity from this lightning rod to that, and so forth.

If you're dissatisfied with the NRA, Frank has written up an effective worksheet for how you can help: http://www.thehighroad.org/showpost.php?p=9041323&postcount=16

Let's see your responses.

EDIT: Posted on top of Larry. Editing posts after the fact? Figures.
