Are We Seeing AR Prices... CRASH???

A nearby Wal Mart was running ARs at $50.00 off their already decent prices last week, that should give you an idea where the market is. Sadly, not too much available on the .22 ammo front.

From what I have seen ARs have been back to normal for a while now. Ammo seems to be more available lately, even 22LR has been available at Cabelas and not selling out in minutes.

I'm just happy that availability is back to normal. I still have 7 unfinished LPK's I started building back in 2010 in various stages of completion. Been finishing them off one by one (picking parts up as they "went on sale" here and there).

Then SH happened. And all those projects stalled. Hopefully things remain "normal" for a while, so I can wrap up a couple more builds this winter. Next one on my list to check off is a dedicated "big bore" toy.. 458.

Saw enough 5.56 at Fin Fur n Feather today to start a small war. They even had some 9mm AE for $18 and .22 on the shelf for $12 a stick of 100. I will be so glad when ammo goes back to normal.

I've been getting a little .22 here and there from Midway. They have had something plinker and somewhat reasonable in stock all week if you keep checking. I try to piggyback it onto another order to cut down shipping costs.

You should have ordered directly from Ruger. They've been making and selling them as they went. I had my backorder for my BX-25's filled during the panic within about three weeks.

I just saw a Cabelas add for next sat. selling a Colt 6900 for around $850. That kind of tells the story.
I'd hate to be that guy who bought the Bushmaster for $1500 4 months ago.
That said I doubt there will be a huge liquidation of those in private possession probably in some part due to those who paid more than they can get back out of the gun they already own. I suspect that many will be buying better quality now and selling off the lessor during the next panic.

My dealer has a fair number of LWRC guns in stock, with a REPR 16 .308 going for 3,600 -and a m&p 10 for 1500. Still seems a little high to me.

In the last week I've bought a NIB LMT defender for $930 plus $30 shipping and a BCM mod 0 for $1,000 plus $35 shipping, both on gunbroker. There are deals out there to be had, starting to think I slightly overpaid for the BCM. Did I need either rifle? Well, hell no, but it felt good to pay something in the range of $500 less than what they would have sold for 5-6 months ago.

The 6900 is a budget gun, made for Colt by another company. $850 is overpriced in my opinion for that gun ( which has been discontinued).

The Colt you want is the real deal- the 6920.

Who makes the 6900? I have some friends that are looking and I have been recommending the 6920 but when I saw the add I forwarded the info.
Any good/bad info on the 6900 would be helpful for me to pass on to them.

Anderson Mfg, IINM. Third hand info supposedly from Colt CS. They're reportedly not up to Colt's normal quality standards from the dribs and drabs I've seen in print. Hard to find solid evidence.

I've not seen one personally, does it have Colt markings? If so how is one supposed to know aside from internet chatter that may or may not be reliable. Are there other Colts that are not Colts?
Kind of adds to the whole "which is best" debate if the 6900 is marked as a Colt, wonder how many other "quality" makers are contracting out?

Plenty of info on the 6900 here:

Yes. The "Colt" M4-22 is made by Umarex, as are the "Colt" 1911-ish pistols in .22LR.

Thanks Fishbed
Good to know and given the return address given to the poster on the other site I'd say it is conclusive. I'd also say that the picture in the add I referred to doesn't show the lack of either the dust cover or FA, I don't think I'd advise a friend to pay that much for a $650-$700 gun. I'll be making amends this evening with some phone calls.

The only AR without the DC and FA worth buying is the Smith and Wesson M&P Sport for around $700-800. Everything else is overpriced.
