I've been wanting one of these for a while now. No "real" reason. Decided to put one on order this morning. I already have the brass, some bullets, dies, etc. Thinking of topping with a 2-7 scope, either a Vortex 2-7 or a Leupold VX-ii 2-7. This will be my first medium bore. I've yet to read anything negative about this rifle + caliber except complaints of not finding ammo at the corner store. Doesn't worry me as I reload and have an affinity for the not-so-common (both in guns and people!).
Just one gun addict sharing with others :D

I have seen one on a used rack at an lgs a while back. It was a reasonable price. It made me wish I was a hunter.

Cabela's had what I think was some swede Mauser's in that caliber as well.

I've held various ones over the years, and always thought "I should get this thing." But someone else has always beaten me to it. You won't regret it, both the 550 and the 9.3x62 are real sleepers.

Got a 550 in 416 Rigby and have fired other and have nothing but good things to say about that rifle. I also shoot the 9.3x62 through a prewar Husqvarna and a Manlicher Schoenauer. Fantastic caliber. The combination of CZ and the 9.3 has to be a winner. I'd be interested in a range report after you get it.

I let one of my co-workers talk me out of mine when he got a chance to go to Africa by winning a "hunt of a lifetime" raffle. Regretted it ever since. It is an outstanding gun/caliber combination.

Congrats, can't wait to see it. I have been wanting one for awhile (9.3x62 Mauser). Cash is my handicap :cuss:,
if I could find a reasonably priced Mauser action, I could slowly build one. :D

Have one, it's an excellent all around North American and African cartridge, and the rifle is a beauty.

Enjoy!

@I6Turbo - I got the 550 American. I was tempted by the FS model but finally settled on the American. Good thing I am out of town this week so I don't sit around waiting for a call from my FFL. Pics and Range Report will be posted.

I had a CZ550 in 9.3x62mm several years ago and I'm a big fan of both the rifle and the cartridge. It was a great rifle and I really liked it, but I sold it to buy a left handed Ruger M77 that is also in 9.3x62mm. If I were right handed, I would certainly have kept it.

It happens that I just wrote an article that describes some of the benefits of the cartridge and recommends the CZ550 as one of the more reasonably priced examples of a rifle in 9.3x62mm. Check it out if you're interested.

the 35 whelen is just as good maybe does not have the safari dream appeal but it can push a 310 grain woodleigh bullet at 2435 fps. data from their info. that is serious power and negates the need for a magnum rifle as does the 9.3
