Petitioners lying to get signatures for outlawing private sales.

Just had a petitioner ask me to sign to require background checks on long guns in addition to hand guns. She explained that current law only requires local background checks for hand gun purchase but not long guns. She said the petition would require federal checks instead of local checks.
I read her petition and it was the standard language requiring all purchases thru dealers. Nothing about long arms or local checks. This was a state ferry waiting line.
She got lots of signatures from people who didn't read it.
 
Since we don't do rants in Activism, what's the plan to deal with this?
Who's your local 2A organization? What pro2A radio or paper is there to sic on them?
 
No, you posted in the right spot. You need to DO SOMETHING about it, not just let it go. Tape record her, if legal. Get her signatures thrown out as obtained under false pretenses. (What do I know, I'm not a lawyer.)

Exactly!

Find out who she's representing and pass that info along.
Don't assume she's knowingly lying when we see so much ignorance, but do use that to discourage her and others interested in signing.
Pass the word to every 2A organization in your area so they can add their voices, perhaps a petition calling for Anti groups to not mislead the public?
 
Lying to get petition signatures is about as old as petitions. Sometimes the subject of the petition is even remotely connected with what the person gathering signatures says it is.

Yes this was WA state. Edmonds ferry terminal waiting line. She was not wearing an ID. I thought they had to wear an ID to petition in the ferry lines. She refused to give me her name.
I'll try to record next time, but that may be a while. On the one hand I'm discouraged that so many people would sign it, but on the other hand she had to lie to get them to do it. The anti's usually fail because most of their arguments are based on lies and don't hold up to debate.

Anyone else who uses the ferries could try to record them and get their name.

Any ideas who we can send the video's to? I emailed SAF, but no response yet.

should be able to report them to the elections commission as well.
Not that it is likely to get very far with the hard left we have here in Washington.

Why not ask her if she would be willing to be interviewed for your Youtube channel and then politely ask her some leading questions and let her lie directly to the camera. Let her do the dirty work of discrediting herself.

Just be polite and friendly and let her destroy herself.
