Mods: If this has been done before, just shut it down. I didn't search it out.

This is kind of a spin off to the thread:

What's your "never buy" gun?

I thought it would be fun to run a thread where we do the opposite. What brand do you "Always" gravitate towards when buying a new gun? Maybe you don't buy it but it's "always" in the consideration set even if you have no intention of buying it.

Maybe you always check out what S&W has going on or maybe you always have your eye on a Colt. Maybe you use Glock as the standard when evaluating a new purchase... Maybe it's Kel Tec, "I could buy two Kel Tecs for one of these." use your imagination...

For me, it's always HK. Don't know why... but I always have my eye on one when I buy a new gun.

Keep it positive, we already have the negative thread.

I don't have an "always" brand. I tend to buy what I like from each manufacturer, however, for pistols, and rifles, I think CZ, and Ruger have a lot of bases covered.

Sig Sauer hands down, and Ruger or S&W when considering revolvers.

Mine is Ruger. Almost all of my experiences with their products, and company have been positive. Now if they would just start building some shotguns.

Traditionally, Glock.

Though, I think I'm going to venture away from that in the near future. Nothing against Glock - I just want to try some new things.

In rifles it would be Savage Arms. In pistols it is not that clear cut. For 1911's it would be Kimber for others it would be CZ or Bersa for Revolvers it would be Ruger or Smith & Wesson.

Just not that clear cut for me.

My current favorite is a Steyr M9, but being that Steyr's overall product line is pretty limited, my first inclination is to see what else is available to fulfill whatever need I have. Most recently, that has been with Bersa and Sig.

It's definitely been S&W for me.

I've had a 686 revolver since '89 and when I decided to get into shooting more and buy some more guns I went with S&W. Before I bought each gun (plinking, carry, HD) I would do my research on different brands but I always started with S&W and liked what I found. I am going to try to branch out on my next gun.

I'm a big Ruger fan. I tend to lean towards their products any chance I get. They're very well made, as you all already know, and are usually very cost effective.

Glock (Pistols).

You know, as much as I don't want to be a fanboy, and much as I think I am not a fanboy, for me? Glock. The funny thing is, I don't love them. I kinda wish, back in 1988 when I wanted the Sig P226 that somebody had one. Instead I bought a S&W 59 because it was a little cheaper and because it was on hand. Three years later I bought oen of the earliest, presumably, 2nd generation G17s because I wanted the simple manual of operation. I still have that.

Fast forward 20 years. I got the S&W M&P9 compact. Liked it but couldn't warm up to it, never trusted...had a bad experience with a S&W M&P 45. Traded that for a used G21...even Steven...LNIB. Traded the 9 compact for a Ruger P95. Likedit but the trigger was weird to me. Traded that in, plus some cash, for a new G19. EDC CCW now.

Don't have a .40. Don't really need one but it would be nice to have the "big three" pistol calibers. Would have NEVER gotten a G23 due to the internet buzz about the kaboom issue...unsupported chamber. Now I hear that the Gen 4 G23 has a fully supported chamber. So, I'd fully expect my next service pistol to be a Gen 4 G23. I guess we'll see.

Ruger (Rifles).

Ruger is off the charts right now with great guns of just about every conceivable type. Really want them to do something with a lever action. Something like their own interpretation of the old Savage 99. With one of their rotary mags.

I'm really not loyal to any single manufacturer.. I own more Beretta's than any other brand thou..

These days probably CZ and Ruger. Good value for money and great customer service. I like Henry, too, for the same reasons but they have a more limited product line.

I guess my signature line says it all. 8 CZs and 10 Rugers. I guess in this case I have put my money where my mouth is.

There are more Brownings in my safe than any other make.

Though I certainly look at others to meet a given need, these makes are just pretty much where my research begins--

Bolt-Action rifles: Browning, then Savage and CZ
Leverguns: Marlin
Shotguns: Browning, then probably Benelli
Pistols: Glock, Browning, and CZ (and clones), then Beretta and Walther (but my summer carry is a Taurus)
Revolvers: Ruger, then S&W (but I carry a S&W)

I'm not such a phenomenal shooter that I can effectively leverage the added capability of the high-dollar guns, nor do I shoot enough to justify the expense.

Depends on the type of gun. Shotguns are Mossberg. Pistols are Glock. Revolvers are Ruger. Rifles are Winchester and Colt. I really can't say any of these brands stick out as a go to manufacturer, because not a single one of them make more than one type of gun I'm interested in.

Anyway, I'm something of a minimalist, and I can't see ever owning more than two of each type of gun. I know what they all are, and the only brands that will be represented are Glock (2), Winchester (2), Mossberg (1), Browning (1), Ruger (1), and Colt (1). Okay so three rifles, but two different formats (bolt and semi). I guess based on this I'd say Glock and Winchester.
