It's another "I like Glock" "I hate Glock" thread. For the record. I'm on the "like Glock" team.

If you are going for a full size Glock then go with a G34. The G19 is one of the best carry guns ever made, better than the G26.

Sorry.... Glock isn't the original....

I prefer the 26/27 over the 19 strictly because the grip length. It shows less and is more comfortable for me while sitting down.

I never said the M&P was. What I said is the Glock was not the first as you say. A little research would give you the answer as to who the 'original' actually was.

My Glock experience started with a 19. Liked it enough to get a 26, which I found much easier to carry. Started shooting IDPA, and got a 17. Found it much more comfortable in my hand than the 19. The 17 became my range gun, the 26 my carry gun and the 19 relegated to the safe. My wife shot a GSSF match with the 19, the next day we got her a Gen4 Glock, and she chose a 17 over a 19.
I tried to fall back in love with the 19, even got a MS Versa-Max 2 holster for it, but it still rarely got carried in lieu of the 26. I ended up dumping it.

The 26 is my most versatile carry gun. I probably most often pocket carry it. I have two IWB holsters, another VM2 and a Galco UDC which is tuckable. I also can carry it with several OWB holsters or in my shoulder holster. I even dumped my Colt New Agent in favor of the 26.

The 19 is a compromise gun, and a good choice if you're only going to have ONE Glock. But the 17/26 combination do their respective roles far better than the 19.

I don't need my pinky on the grip to shoot well.
But this is why there are many handgun options available.
One size does not fit all. And it makes going to the LGS more fun.

Your really trying to split hairs here. Glock 26 is the original topic. When M&P was brought up I said I'd rather have the original. Clearly the M&P was patterned after the Glock. So yes, that makes the glock the original. I'm not talking 9mm's, striker fired, poly guns. Just Glock and M&P.

Well have never cared that the Glock is not a "pretty" pistol...but I would prefer it if my gun didn't look like...well, like an excited dog

Too big/thick for pocket carry, no safety...has to be carried in a belt holster...and if it has to be in a belt holster may as well carry g19 which is essentially the same weight and size(barely any less concealable ) and a better shooter due to better grip and (slightly) longer sight radius.
Its a dead reliable and easy to maintain gun..I just find I barely ever carry it. Seems like its kinda stuck in an akward place..too big for a deep conceal gun, no real advantage over g19 for carry, too small for range/target shooting..

Apparently, you aren't doing it right and it isn't the right fit for you. My mother pocket carries hers in a pocket holster. It is hard to believe that a 77 year old woman would get away with doing that, but she does and it works well. It fits her hands well.

If you have to ask what the point is about a commercially successful product, then chalk it up to not understanding it or not understanding the need to give the public options for their purchases.

That you don't think it has a point is fine, but that does not mean that it does not fit a niche or fill a need for others who want or need the product.

I have owned one for DECADES and it was a BUG when I was LEO.

Now its in the safe as I prefer the G-23 [ next size up from the G-27 ].

I still use it for ankle carry if I want to go VERY low profile and yet have a major caliber on me.Usually its a S&W snub for the ankle as it more comfortable and LIGHTER.

If going in to 'indian territory' so to speak - I have worn the G-27 as a BUG and then a pocket pistol to have one "in hand".

I try to stay out of such territory.

The "point" of the G26 is ankle carry for LE. It also happens to be the BEST CCW gun I've ever used.

First, the "biggest" Glock isnt the G17.......the .45/10mm frames are larger than the 9mm/.40/.357 frames.

The Glock 17 was supposedly the 17th patent by Glock Inc.

As Glock developed additional firearms in other calibers, models and styles they simply chose a number.

Sometimes the numbering isnt logical. A Glock 17L is a longslide G17, yet the longslide G22 is a G24.

Some folks like 'em better. I carry a 19 myself, but wouldn't necessarily turn my nose up at a 26. Pocket carry for me is a 642, as far as that goes. Some folks prefer an external hammer. I have a 637, but prefer the 642 for said usage.

Different strokes...

All that being said, the real purpose of the 26 (and 19, 17 et. al.) is to line Gaston Glock's pockets with money. They are all doing a fine job of that, too. Good for him.

In a nutshell: It's an "almost always" carry gun!

The safety is not necessary with proper booger hook control.

It carries better than the Glock 19 in the appendix position. It depends upon how tall you are; short people need shorter barrels to avoid nut cracking.

The Glock 26 does carry well in the pocket. You just need the correct pocket, holster and a small rag to stuff into the pocket. It won't fit in jean pockets, but it works fine in pleated khakis.

It is a very accurate pistol. I have found it to be very good out to 15 yards. I like that the felt recoil is less than the G19. I also like how I can use 10, 12, 15 and 17 round magazines.

Having owned a relatively similar XD Subcompact, and handling and shooting a G27 or two... I wouldn't buy a G26 sized gun again, a gun that size may work as a pocket or ankle pistol for some people, but not for me. And I can conceal a slightly larger and thus easier to shoot gun just as well with a OWB/IWB holster. So if I can step it up to a slightly larger gun, why not? If I need to go really small, the G26 is generally too big for deep concealment.

Now that's me, everyone has their own preferences with what does and does not work for them when it comes to concealing a handgun.

If I were gonna go Glock I'd much rather have a G19. Or for that matter... Maybe a Glock spin on the CCO, a G26 frame with a G19 slide/barrel (I've seen it done online, I'd love to get my hands on one and try it out).

The point of any gun is to go "BANG!" when you pull the trigger.

The design of the gun is to give people another choice in firearms selections to suit their needs/wants and, of course, to make money for Glock.

FWIW, I carry both the G26 and the G19. Love them both. I can conceal the G19 just fine, but the G26 is a bit more comfortable. I shoot the G26 about as well as the G19.

Love them both... GLOCK ALL THE WAY...

i carry my 26 in my pocket all the time

the 19 is a compromise between the g17 and g26 for police use.can be used for duty or off duty ccw by the cops.
