Pics won't post from my BB, but I'm looking at a sawback 1832 marked brass grip/guard curved short sword with russian or Greek markings.

Anyone seen anything like that?

Bingo!

Nice old guy got it without the sheath. Prices on the net are all over the place for the Crimean War Pioneer swords. Repros are around $125 and originals are $350 and way up (+$1,000 for some reason). Luckily the repros aren't marked like the range of these that are supposed to be authentic.

More of a tool than a weapon. A number of them were brought back from the Crimean War. The fading stamp appears to be П.Г. for quality inspection.

The markings on the brass hilt are Roman letters, not Cyrillic - maybe some type of import mark? The markings on the blade are Cyrillic: П. Г. (P. G.) and МА...ТО (same as Roman letters)

The AG on the hilt was a trade mark of Abraham Grah. Several members of the Grah family from Zolingen, Germany worked at the edged weapons armory in Russia.
