S&W Model 64. Is this a good deal?

Hello.
Looking to purchase a (very good) condition s&w model 64.
Comes with Safariland Level 3 duty holster, a safariland concealement holster, 5 speedloaders, and a dbl speedloader pouch. Asking $300. Does this sound fair?

That is a SMOKING deal as far as I'm concerned. That's getting the gun for what, like $250-$225 once the accessories are accounted for!
 
4 inch or 2 inch barrel (and hope among hope 3 inch barrel)?

Now if it is tight, shoots where the sights shoot, then a 4 incher would be good buy at $300.

If a 2 incher it would be a BETTER BUY.

and if it was the 3 inch version, it would be the BEST BUY.

The S&W M&P revolver line of old was the Glock of it's day. That and the Colt Official Police. Bot real good guns.

Ok guys. Gun looks real nice. Overall I would say very good. Little bit of cylinder play and some end shake(not too bad though) BUT the stuff I got with it was killer!
Standard wood grips (new)
Set of pach's
?? Not really sure of the finger wood's (are they combat grips? If so worth anything? The grips are numered to each other)
Level 3 safariland duty holster.
Safariland conceal carry holster
Speedloader pouch.
5 speedloaders.

Think I did all right, I guess I will just all the extras on ebay, I have no real use for the holsters and stuff. May keep a couple speedloade rs.
Can someone tell me if these combat grips have any value??

I have a 4" model 64. It is bar none the most accurate gun I own. You did very well for yourself sir and will love shooting that sucker.
 
if they are hogue 1 piece wood combat grips they are worth about $30, give or take, depending on features and wood type. S&W factory wood combat grips are worth a fair deal more from what I have seen them go for at auction, $50-100 depending on model and condition. Generic combat grips could be worth whatever someone is willing to pay, no less than $25 if they are fit well. Some high end custom wood combat grips are worth a pretty penny, hundreds in some cases depending on who made them.

I hope that you thank the person who sold you that outfit and buy him dinner at least - you got one HECK of a steal, err, I mean "deal" IMO..
 
If I wanted a basic house gun, the one you bought would be my choice. I carried one at work for a few years before replacing it with a M-66 .357.

If the endshake can easily be repaired, the gun should be a very pleasant bargain. A TRAINED armorer wlil tap the cylinder yoke shaft on a mandrel to lengthen it to original specs.

My M-64 was extremely accurate.
 
Almost ANY pre-lock S&W in decent shape for 300 bills is a good deal nowadays. You did great on that buy IMHO.
 
That is a good deal.

That said, none of the appurtenances except the paddle holster would be of any value to me. I guess I could trade the other stuff for some grips I like.
 
I regularly see those S&W combat stocks selling for $150 upwards.
They may or may not fit your hands. They don't fit mine, FWIW.
If they don't fit, sell them on Fleabay and you've got yourself a $150 gun, still with plenty of goodies.
 
Well. Before I shoot her I have to address the end shake, I have a feeling the yoke/cylinder end shake may be messing up the timing as well! It turns out to be only a good deal. Not great! But after the end shake is fixed, I am hoping she is a shooter!! Even with the end shake and timing being slightly off, I should still come out ahead, I am selling the holsters and accessories (as I have no use since this is just range gun) looks like I should get around $150 for the holsters, & accessories! Turns out the combat grips have a small chip and a small splinter, don't expect to get as much as expected for the combats!! But that's ok, after all is said and done I may have $130-$150 into the gun!! And I am again hoping the end shake is a quick easy fix...
 
May be as simple as the Yoke Screw!!

So I am wondering now because I have some end shake on the yoke, if I have the right screw, or if the screw was not fitted properly?? Seems to be some confusion on my end on which yoke screw the 64-3 takes?? The way that I understand this is address the yoke end shake first, the cylinder end shake second, then the timing last. I will attach a pic of the screw that was in place when I bought it..and I already tried switching for the other screw and thier is some movement in the yoke with both screws. So again I am wondering if I have the right screw??
