Remington 700 ADL DBM or BDL conversion?

Why do you think an aluminum bedding block is necessary? They are a way of taking a cheap stock and making it acceptable. Not really the best choice.

H-S Precision makes a blind magazine stock for the ADL. Last time I checked price was $350ish, or ahout $100 more than the B&C. if you want to spend the money a McMillan is available in ADL and is a much better stock. No need for aluminum blocks.

On a tight budget one of the Boyds laminated stocks are an ADL option for only about $100. They are much heavier than I want on a hunting rifle, but might be the cheapest acceptable option for you if you don't mind, or want a heavier rifle.

I agree that ADL simply isn't an issue and you money is better spent on a better stock or optics. For the money it would cost to convert to BDL and buy a cheap stock, you could spend about the same money on a McMillan. Or buy a laminated stock and put more into your glass.

I recently went this route with an ADL that like you, I got for cheeeep.

I had a B and C light medalist that I bought used from someone that already had the DBM setup in it with AICS mags. I got a steal on it, otherwise I don't know if I could have afforded it. I will say that the B and C is nice and light, but AICS mags are heavy. I also had it bedded and put a heavy barrel on it (24 or 26 Sendero profile). I will say that it is a sweet shooter with handloads, i.e. .5MOA at 200 yds, and steel out to 800, but it is soooo heavy and extremely unbalanced. I have been backpacking with it twice now and several hikes and it is awful to pack and nearly impossible to shoot offhand due to all the weight being at the front. Feels like an over-tacticooled AR with 5 flashlights lasers and grenade launchers but twice as long. The AICS mags are also expensive and if you aren't going to buy more of them at 70-90 a pop, it's not really worth having the DBM in my opinion. For reference, I have 1400 into the rifle, including an SWFA 10X fixed on top. However, I got the B and C stock, with the DMB setup already in it and an AICS 10 rd mag for 350.
