Would like opinions on this rifle. Seems like a decent rifle for the price.

I almost bought it, from what I've read and what everyone has told me, it's a great gun. I ended up with the X bolt and I kinda wish I would have gotten the s2.

I have one in the 257 and it does shoot sub moa out of the box the stock is amazing! I can shoot 5 shots in a 3 inch group at 600 yards and I'm no sharp shooter. It is my favorite gun I own! If you don't have one get one!

my 25-06 in the weatherby s2 is one of my favorite rifles. great trigger, and excellent accuracy right out of the box. mine is a bit picky on what it likes, but once i found the right combo for it it'll put 5 shots in an inch with regularity. For the money i'd be surprised if there is another rifle out there that will provide the accuracy and features/quality.

I have an s1 stainless 257 weatherby mag. 7/8" five shot group at 110 yds factory 100gr ammo (expensive load). My factory trigger has no creep but I have seen another older blued one that did have creep. The s2 is likely to be very nice.

Good guns, but probably the heaviest gun you'll ever own. If I were wanting something in a magnum chambering a good choice. I wouldn't be interested in one in a standard chambering.

Right they are not trim like a kimber, but in a 257 mag they point really well. The bolt is smooth like a Sako. Ive got a warne tactical railed base , leupold qrw rings , and a nice leopuld scope on mine , its real sweet.

The stock is a bit heavy it's true, but it's ergonomically comfortable, and provides good grip.

I will agree with the other posters that the Vanguard S2 is a great rifle. I have one in .30-06 and it shoots MOA with cheap Federal and Winchester ammo. I am gathering components to see if I can find an even more accurate hand load.

Yes, there are prettier and lighter rifles made, but for the money the S2 is a tough one to beat in terms of accuracy and reliability.

I have two S2's, a .243 and a 30-06. They are heavy though not as heavy as my CZ 550 American. I prefer heavy rifles though b/c I have a bad shoulder.

Both shoot sub-moa with Core-Lokts. If I am looking to purchase another rifle in a caliber produced in the S2 I will buy it. I just wish they made a rifle chambered in 7x57.

I've got three of them! All Series 2. A .308, .223 and .257 WBY. Absolutely the best value out there. My .308 shoots a 1.5" five shot group at 200 yards. My .223 shoots 3/8" groups at 100. I haven't got my .257 dialed in yet for 200, but it's doing sub-1" at 100.

The first two are Synthetics, the .257 WBY is the Sporter model, with the wood stock. I decided I needed one in a Weatherby caliber, and that it needed to be wood.

I've never enjoyed shooting before as much as I am with these three rifles.

I picked one up last year in .308 to use as a dedicated cast bullet gun. The 24" bbl and 1:12 twist make this ideal for cast.

I am told that the trigger is adjustable, but I have not messed with it. It shoots like a dream just like I took it out of the box. With 200 gr. cast lead bullets, it shoots into 2 MOA at 2,000 fps.

Two fellow club members have S-2 in .30-06 and .308. Both shoot MOA to 300 yards with reloads.

It is not the prettiest gun in the rack, but it does everything a gun is supposed to do. I considered an Axis, but the after market addition of trigger and stock would make that gun cost as much as an S-2. In my opinion it is the best out of the gun box at a very attractive price.

I just wish they would make it in .358 Win.

5 shot 3" groups at 600 yds? Really?
