What was/is your first carry gun

I had three guns on my first permit: Taurus PT145 DAO, S&W327 357, and a Taurus M85. Carried the PT 145 the most. The M85 was for laziness, being that I slipped it into my pocket. If I went to "the city" I would Cary the 327 in a shoulder rig with two other moon clips filled with 357 under my right armpit.

Finally switched out the PT-145 for a glock 26 and then move to AZ where I can carry anything short of a bazooka if I wanted.

At age 13, an Enfield No. 2, Mk I* in .38 S&W. Depending on location, it was either open carried in a custom modified holster, or concealed in a shoulder bag. ;)

My first carry gun was a S&W Model 14 with a 6" barrel in .38 Spl, that my granddad gave me when I was 18. I carried it for a few months, but it was mint when I got it, and wasn't going to stay that way, so it got retired in favor of a shorter, uglier S&W model 10 4" police trade, which was about all the gun I could afford on a gas station clerk's wage.

Later I downsized to a Kel-Tec P32. I hadn't yet learned the virtues of good leather, and was getting sick of being dragged down by heavy guns.

Eventually, I became concerned about the .32's lack of power, sights, and general shootability, and so went clear to the opposite end of the spectrum. I got my first 1911, a Taurus 5" .45. It had a number of issues at first, and I bought several other 1911s, including a Springer, a Rock, an old mix and match Colt, and a Sistema. They all proved to have issues of their own, however, and a much upgraded PT1911 remained center stage.

Somewhere in there, a CZ 75 and Glock 21 wandered into and out of my life. Both got carried a time or two, but not on a regular basis.

Eventually, I went through another phase of not wanting to deal with the size and weight of a 5" 1911, and started looking for alternatives. During the looking around phase, I went back to carrying the little P32. This carrying a 32 but looking for something better went on for quite some time. At one point, I borrowed my Dad's Kimber LW Faux-mmander, and thought it was an excellent compromise. It maintains most of the virtues of the 1911, but is a lot lighter, and just enough shorter not to pinch.

I was all set to pull the trigger on one of my own, when an accident at work led to my switching to shooting lefty. All of a sudden, a lightweight .45 didn't seem like quite such a great idea. I had just about decided to start looking for a G19, when I remembered how mild shooting my RIA Gov't size .38 Super had been. I also remembered having heard about LW Commanders in that caliber. I figured that even my left hand should be able to handle that.

Pretty soon, the stars aligned, Colt made a run of them, and after seeing three of them in a week, I scraped the funds together and took one home. The usual test period and one ambi safety later, and they all lived happily ever after.

My first carry piece was a Glock 23 Gen 4, but have since downsized to a Glock 26 Gen 4. Couldn't be happier

My first carry gun was a HK P2000 carried in a fanny pack.
then went to a Beretta 21A for summer social work. The wife removed that one for her own personal use, so a Walther PPK/S showed up. After shooting a SIG P238, well, one just had to be mine. So now it's a choice between the Walther and the SIG.

My first was a Colt, Diamondback, .38 Special.

My second and currant is a S&W .45 acp, dao gun. Still have the Colt.

Not sure if there will ever be a third.

I might get boo's and hisses - but - My first carry gun was a little Jimenez JA-25. Put it in a pocket holster and carried it right in my pocket. Have an office job so no coat or anything to use for cover. And it is small enough that it's not uncomfortable to sit at my desk all day while carrying it.

The S&W 640 on the left, in .38 SPL., is my first CCW gun when CHL started in Texas (my CHL number is VERY LOW.)

The S&W 640-1 on the right is my current summer carry gun.

First was a Makarov PM. For long stretches it was a Kahr subcompact 9mm, then a S&W J-frame .38 Special. Nowadays it's mostly a Beretta 21A.

West German Sig P220 that was made in 1987. I don't carry it anymore, but I certainly won't get rid of it. I will never forget that moment when I brought it home and realized I was now a gun owner.

My very first carry gun, as an 18 year old kid working security, was a Model 58. I already had a Colt Diamondback in .22 and a 6" Model 27, but, needed something shorter to carry. I carried the lead wadcutter rounds in it. The full house HP rounds were brutal. I think I bought it new, nickel, for $160.00. I wanted blue, but, couldn't find one. Still have all those guns.

My first duty gun as a Police Officer was a Colt Series 70 Government Model.

Colt M1911. I have carried several, including a Remington-Rand M1911A1 and an Argentine M1927. Currently I carry a Kimber Custom Classic (their basic gun about 20 years ago.)

My first carry was a S&W Model 36 "Chief's Special" Although I still use it now & then, my preferred now is a 9 X 18mm Bulgarian Makarov.

My first concealed carry piece was an AMT Backup .380 ACP. It was easy to conceal but a real pain to shot, it would pound the heck out of the web of your hand. I traded up to a Walther PPK that I still have and occasionally still carry.

My first woods carry handgun was a S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman with a 4" barrel. I liked the stability of the big N-frame .357mag. I practiced mostly with 38 specials but still found it draining my piggy bank too quickly. It was traded off for a Ruger Single Six and a love was formed for single action revolvers and anything that shot 22lr's, old or new. I learned a lot from shooting that revolver considering that I could shoot 500 22lr's for the price of one box of .357's.
A good 3/4 of the firearms I've owned have been chambered for the 22lr... a trend unlikely to change at any time. If my current CC pistol (Ruger LCP) had come out in a 22 format first I would have never bought it in .380acp ...

My first ccw and handgun was a s&w 66-something with hogue mono grip. Nice gun, wish I still had it and had to pick up a 66-1 last year to replace it.
