Springfield XDs Recall

Just got my XDS-45 back tonight. Shipped it in back on 9-3. Got an extra 7 round magazine with 2 X-Tension sleeves. Makes the grip look pretty big. Glad to have it back! Might get it to the range one of these days and dirty it up. :D

Got mine back today- Talon grip intact- free extended magazine- inside a little hardshell box.

Well, it took a long time and there has been a lot of speculation on all the forums; some of it downright hostile towards Springfield.

I got it unpacked and loaded some snap-caps in the new mag, pulled the trigger and....man what a letdown. I was thinking the trigger was going to be heavy and sucky and it wasn't.

I think it feels pretty much the same as it did before, maybe even better. The grip safety feels fine, no drama whatsoever.

So to all the whiners who will be selling their XDs, who are outraged that SA fixed their gun for free and gave out a free magazine, and swear they'll never buy another SA product again: shut up. The gun is as good or better than before the recall.

Sent mine in on September 4th, got it back yesterday. Trigger may be a little heavier, but breaks cleanly. I'll start carrying it again after I put few test rounds through it.

Sent mine in 9-3 got it back yesterday. Mine had a little trigger bite before now the trigger is excellent. Ran flawlessly at the range to.

I'm with you man. I have no problem with SA and I think they did right by their customers. Of course I got my gun back weeks ago, so my perception is different than others.

My XDs is my main carry again.

My rant was directed primarily at someone in another forum who, using a plethora of expletives, declared he was selling his XDs and never doing business with SA again. All that before he even got his gun back!

Glad you guys posted that your guns were fine, mine in not back yet, but there were a bunch of negative reviews on Utube about guns that came back with the fix done. I was starting to regret sending mine in till I saw that most here were happy with the result. Keep them coming

I received my XDs .45 back from Springfield earlier this month, and initially the trigger was heavier and had a lot of creep. The break was much more crisp though, and the reset was good.

So, over the course of a week, I dry fired it at least 300 times with a snap cap, and the trigger improved greatly. While it is still heavier than before, the creep is gone. The trigger breaks much better than pre recall.

I took my XDs to the range and ran 100 rounds of Speer Lawman 230gr fmj and 20 rounds of Barnes TacXPD 185 gr +P jhp, which is my carry round, through it.

The gun is still 100% reliable, as it was before, and because the trigger is better, I was able to shoot better groups with it at the range. Overall, post recall, the XDs .45 still rocks, and is my EDC gun.

Here is a pic of my first 6 groups, post recall, 1st range trip. Shooting at 7 yards, two handed, unsupported. I circled my individual groups in blue using MS Paint.

XD-S*™ Recall Update 12/06/2013

Dear Springfield Customer,

Due to unforeseen importation delays – caused by the recent government shutdown – we are awaiting receipt of a large shipment of parts that will be needed to complete future upgrades. This frustrating delay may push our return schedule back by approximately two weeks for some customers. But, we remain committed to achieving the fastest turnaround times possible [/QUOTE]

Oh dear.... here we go again...... another delay, this time blamed on the government.

I feel like Charlie Brown.....UGH !!! The bad part of this XDS recall fiasco is that from now on when Springfield sends out a recall notice, I wonder how many notices will just get tossed in the trash? I mean, I'll send mine in cause I want it as safe as possible, but there is those out there that won't.

As it stands right now, when (if?) mine ever returns, there's a better than even chance that it's going to get sold/traded.

I'm a reasonably patient man, but this whole thing has begun to wear that patience exceptionally thin.

When they write and tell me the dog ate their homework, or my work order, I won't be terribly surprised.

The one upside to this fiasco is that since the XDs was my EDC, I've since returned to my Kimber Ultra Raptor II - something I should never have forsaken for the marginally lighter XDs in the first place.

The Kimber (in my opinion) is better by a wide margin.

Mine will probably sit in its case for a while as I don't like losing a lot of money selling guns. That is unless its really as amazing as they claim it will be, if it ever shows up.

No whining here. However if I buy other guns in the meantime that work as they should without bs then that's whats gonna happen

I had 130 rounds through mine when the recall hit. Sent it in and 11 weeks later it is back. The trigger may be a little heavier. If so it is hard to tell. The gun works perfectly. They did put a little damage on my Talon grip. I replaced it with the cyber Monday sale they had. Sale came at the perfect time.
