Nothing makes the bed feel more comfortable than when it's too nasty outside to hunt. When the cold, the wind, the rain, snow, ice, get too bad and I'm laying in a warm bed, listening to it raging right outside the window, and I'm sheltered from it all for a few hours...THATs nice.

Won't be long before the really bad weather is gone and I get to go enjoy the great outdoors in the "normal" bad weather.:D

Thunderstorms certainly keep me out of the field or woods, and ice keeps me out of tree stands.
And there are times when the weather keeps even the critters hunkered down.

I have my Non-Resident License, for the Pennsylvania deer season. We are driving up to the BIL house from Florida for Thanksgiving dinner, then to his cabin in the mountains. The weather looks iffy for the drive. We were planning on leaving, Tuesday morning. He called this morning and said that it was (-)2 degrees at the cabin.

I really don't want to drive in freezing rain and ice, my wife already has her mouth poked out. We will make the final call tomorrow afternoon.

I haven't deer hunted since I moved to Florida in 2003. My Rem 700, 308 has been zeroed for 150 yards, using 43.2GR. of RL15 and 165GR. Sierra Spitzers.

Me and some buddies went out this weekend north Wisconsin. -2 air temp -17 wind chill. I only had to sit a couple hours before I shot a little 6pt basket rack. Sitting in those temps are pretty much impossible.

The only bad weather out here is when the wind blows, which is mostly all the time. When the wind blows the quail stay on the ground and run, in front of the dog until they get up out of range. Smart little critters. Other than that, down here, it's nice to hunt when it's cool and the wind ain't blowing.

gspn,
I know what your saying. When the temp would hit -10 deg I would stay at the camp and watch out the back window. When the wind started howling louder and the snow started blowing harder, I'd just throw another log on the fire and take another sip of coffee.
