Two weeks ago I got my December Natchez Shooter Supplies catalog in the morning mail. I noticed they listed something like 10-11 listings for .22LR ammo, the total on offer amounted to several thousand rounds.

I immediately called and was told, "We have no .22LR ammo, sorry." So, disappointed, I asked if they had it but had sold out immediately, thinking that perhaps other states had gotten the catalog before us here in Arizona. I got the same answer: "We have no .22LR ammo, sorry."

I then asked if this was just a bait-and-switch and they'd never had any in the first place. I got the same answer. So I hung up, as most of you would have done also.

What's with these guys? Anyone know?

Printed catalogs are typically printed 3-6 months in advance; perhaps at the time of printing, they were expecting to have some in stock by the time the catalog came out.

Most of the printed catalogs I receive have ammo and reloading components that I know full well, they don't have. I'm convinced they have a standard format of items, and they don't change that based on what they actually have in stock or available.

Midway does it too. they send out a monthly flier with items yellow hilighted as being sold out at the time of the sale. Kind of funny flipping through the pages seeing all the stuff on sale thats not available.
They must write up the sales months in advance.

Here's the deal...if you see anyone advertising .22 ammo...it's gone.

Midway hasn't bothered to advertise ammo or reloading components for at least 9 months now though...

I picked up 2 boxes (the limit) on 325 rnd box of Federal Match. Caught it on gunbot, ordered it immediately and with a fair amount of shipping, got it with no problem. Wish I had ordered 2 more in wife's name! I guess some of these places get so many calls, they get frustrated and snipe at the customer!

Almost 20 years ago I would call Natchez and found out it was gone. Something called the internet had already sold it....that was a real eye opener.

Bait and Switch is a sales tactic in which a customer is attracted by the advertisement of a low-priced item but is then encouraged to buy a higher-priced one.

Did Natchez attempt to sell you a higher priced item?

The 22 ammunition shortage is hardly new news. It has been going on all of this year. The person you were talking to was much kinder than me. When you accused me of illegal activity I would have hung up on you immediately.

Yep, I agree. The fact that I ran very low on rimfire ammo was my fault....I should have kept purchasing. Gee....when I think of all those bulk boxes I walked past just one year ago! Lesson learned and I'm paying the price now. The good news though is .22LR ammo is available but it takes some effort finding it and you may have to wait a bit.
