Beautiful rifle. I know this is probably a stupid question but is it a 6.5 x 57?

Brutus that is K-31 (31 indicating year of acceptation by the military). Made by Sig in Bern Switzerland. It's chambered in 7.5x55 Swiss. Moves a 174 gr. bullet @ 2650 fps. Uses standard .308 dia. bullet. 1000 yrd. capable, 30.06 type power. Was standard issues to Swiss troops from 1931 to well into the 70's.
Swiss made like a watch and super deadly accurate.
However, 99.9999% of them have been used. Remember these were designed and intended to be used in artic conditions. Because they were used and the conditions the furniture is usually pretty marked up. Also usually in near perfect mechanical condition. This one, as best as I can tell has never been issued or even used for that matter. Rare bird:D

I have mixed emotions. If unfired and I have others I'd probably preserve it as found.

I like those sights. I wish I could afford to drop 300+ bucks for a set because I have 2 or 3 K-31's that could use them.

They look like a no drill solution, how effective is the rear mounting system? I might get a wild hair one day and get a set anyway. I'm amazed how well target sights work on days with good light at my age.

Clutch, the sights are pretty sweet. They can be mounted in like literally 5 minutes. They are 100% rock solid, does not require anything to be done to the rifle, leaves no marks of any kind on the wood or metal. Clamps into the thumb cut-out. Well, worth the $330. Has adjustable eye relief and adjustable iris which is very useful and cool.

Flawless

You don't see this everyday :D
