I am ordering some primers from Midsouth and entering my apt as shipping address since I cannot have that type of item sent to the office. If I am not home to sign for it, will they leave a door tag and then I could pick them up at my local fedex facility at the end of the day?

Yes but make sure the Fed-Ex facility by you is Fed-Ex ground. They won't keep a ground package at a normal Fed-Ex hub. I found that out the hard way.

You can request to have the package held at a FedEx hub when you go to track your package IIRC

All primers and powder are sent ground. Midsouth uses Fedex. Midway uses UPS. Fedex you have to sign and they will let you have it sent to one of the small strip mall/Mailboxes etc. As long as they are affiliated with Fedex. [I think all of them are] You will have to show I.D. and sign for it. I've never done it myself and there may be a small charge for this

FedEx is a shotgun blast. You never know what they are going to do. I think the signature thing is a request made by the shipper, not a FedEx requirement.

I've had FedEx drop HazMat shipments at my back door. I've had then drop them off at someone else's back door. I've had them leave notes. I've had them leave the package with a neighbor. I've had then request a signature.

There is no telling what they will do. UPS is no better.

Once they get the idea of what they are supposed to do, they do a lot better. This is accomplished by calling the shipping supervisors and chewing someone's a%$ out for leaving Hazardous Material where a child can get to it.

Worked for me. I never have trouble with FedEx or UPS now.

What David said. Even though PV states they need a signature, I have found mine at the neighbors or had to call the supervisor last time the tracker said it was delivered (just not at my house).

i've only ordered haz mat through Powder Valley. they've always shipped FedEx for me. adult signature is required and they won't hold it at a facility. my neighbor's wife only works weekends and is home most of the time, so i ship it to their house and she signs for it.

with the current online prices and the high prices at the LGS, it takes about 4 lbs of powder or 4 bricks of primers to make up the haz mat fee. that's assuming the LGS even has what i need in stock. very easy to come out ahead if you go in with a buddy or two.

They always say 'signature required", but almost every time I have ordered, they just leave it on my porch.....never even bother to ring the doorbell

^^^true, but remember, now that we are in the MAJOR delivery times for packages, these guys are assigned 14 hours of deliveries to do in about 8 hours so they are moving and leaving things usually

I used to have a lot of deliveries. I filled out a form for both UPS and FED
EX and told them to leave it on the chair on the patio. Never had a problem.

Only if it's a ground hub. I have a Fed-Ex hub two blocks from my house. The Fed-Ex ground hub is 50 miles from my house. They would not leave the package at the Fed-Ex hub because it wasn't ground. Since then I always request UPS.

Yes. I think you usually have the option when you buy them of if you want to pick the item up or not. That may be UPS though.?
