Howdy,

Been a long time (like 2 years) since on here last... But better late than never, or something like that...

I was at my local FFL (he runs a pawn shop) having him do a transfer on a PF-9 that I recently picked up on gunbroker...

I made the mistake of browsing through the handguns he had in the case and a minty looking glock compact in 45 caught my eye... When i saw the price on the tag i kept asking what is wrong with it? nada... I examined the glock and field stripped it and it was brand new and had zero wear on the hood or barrel and appeared to have only been fired at the factory. the 3 mags (yes 3 and one of them had a pearce+0 extension) were all brand new... only thing is 2 of them were not drop free (all are factory glock).... no biggie.

i asked him what the best he could do was all he said was make an offer (usually that means he isnt budging)... i said get me out the door for the sticker price and sure enough i was doing the paperwork and handing over cash.... there goes part of my not yet seen tax return.

long story short, i got home stripped the gun apart, cleaned up all the factory goop and that is when it hit me!!! this is not compatiable with my G21 mags......

that is what i get for buying a gun in under 10 minutes and too caught up in the price, brand new condition, and the very voluptuous girl behind the counter who kept chatting with me (she knows i am going through a divorce and will be back on the market soon

i was just sitting there kicking my self for my stupidity, but then i started to holster the gun, see how it fit for carry (that is why i bought it anyway) and turns out i like it! range time with 100 rounds of winchester 230gr PDX1 hollow points and no hiccups... once i can get my hands on another 100 or so (I don't go into my reserve ammo stash) I will start to carry... i also ran 300rds of reloads and WWB 230gr through it without a problem... i did notice that on the 2 mags without the pearce +0 extension i had a more pronounced flip of the muzzle and more "bite" in the webbing of the hand... already have 2 extensions (+0) on order...

this "mistake" on my part has turned into a nice single stack carry gun to switch to when I am tired of my other 1911 compact carrys

While I'm not a fan of the single stack, & prefer the G30, the G36 is a great gun & I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Congrats on a great score.

I bought mine on purpose when my xds 45 was out for the recall. It's the only Glock that feels good in my hand. I'm liking it more each day. Very accurate!

Congrats. I love mine. I also put the Pearce +0 extensions on all my mags. Mine has been trouble free. It did shoot high when I got it but I put night sights on anyway and just put in the shortest rear sight. That put it right on the money.

If you're going through a divorce, and accumulating guns, you're either doing something very very right, or very very wrong.
Either way, I like your style!

Why were you surprised the fatter G-21 magazines weren't compatible?
.

To my knowledge no other Glock magazine works in the 36.

It is a fine way to carry .45 in a 27 oz loaded package and very manageable to shoot.

In fact by comparison to any other small .45 I have ever shot the Glock 36 is the most manageable to shoot for me.

I was not paying attention to the single stack mags, but was paying attention to the DD's and the cute brunette behind the counter who was giving me the go ahead signals....

I had been in the market for another compact 1911 or a g30... Turns out the g36 is a keeper and possibly the brunette..... To be continued...

I think Glock (or someone else) is missing out on a huge market by not manufacturing a flush mag with one less round in it. Great gun though

Have been the proud owner of a G-36 for years and have run many thousands of my cast 200 & 230 grain Round Nose bullets without a problem. The G-36 does not like SWC's at all. Enjoy your new gun.

Why wait for the divorce to be final? It's already over.

That said, you've put 400 rounds through it and still aren't carrying it? Glocks are about the only semi I'll take out of the box nd just start carrying it right away.

Ass uming that the young lady has attributes other than looks, I'd be a lot more interested in her than in a G36. Glad you like both. I certainly wouldn't want a G36 with even fewer rounds, as somebody suggested.

My preference would be/is a G26. Easy for me to carry and 11 rounds, plus G19 and G17 backup mags. ;)

Glock rookie asks...

if an extension is added, why not use a +1 with a spiffier spring?

salty

I've had and traded the G36. It feels great in the hand and shoots straight for a 3.8" bbl compact. I couldn't get past the 'pinkie pinch'. I'm just a sissy when it comes to that. I bought a Sig P220 Compact and have never looked back. Oh, btw, traded the G36 for a G23 and am happy with that swap.
