I'm considering getting an AR with a dedicated 22lr top end. I'm not interested in the psudo AR's that are 22lr guns made to look like an AR. I want to be able to switch top ends to 5.56, or any other caliber. A friend of mine has the Chiappa and he's been having feeding problems with a lot of different ammo's, so I will probably avoid that one.

I am considering one by CMMG, since my dad has one and it works well.

What are my other options? What is you experience with these?

I previously had a CMMG Bravo 22ARC...it worked very well and was more accurate than I expected from a 16" 1:9 barrel.

That said, I sold it and built a dedicated upper with a CMMG 16" 1:6 22LR barrel.

If you are looking for a complete 22LR upper, Whittaker Guns has some of the best prices on CMMGs that you'll find.

CMMG, most folks say stay away from the bottom of the line one with the black finish, but mine has given no issues.

Why am I not surprised. My experience with their 1911-22 and useless customer support (I had to pay to send the pistol back and they didn't fix it!) has them totally off my list.

It's hard to beat CMMG dedicated upper for the quality and value. Spikes makes a good dedicated .22LR upper as well, but they are tough to find.

I have a Tactical Solutions .22 upper I bought used here. Runs great.

I bought my wife a new CMMG upper and it has fed 100%. In the beginning it did catch an empty case every mag or so, jamming it up, but after some break in that seems to have gone away. The extractor was/is a bit tight, which may have been the reason. I would not hesitate to buy another CMMG .22 upper.
