CT resident hi-cap magazine registration form

I hope the people entering these forms into the computer are gun people; because I don't want to spend a lot of time explaining how my AR lower has 5.56, 7.62x25, and 7.62x39 uppers; as well as a ceiner conversion for .22lr...

Even worse, try explaining all of those "10 round .458 SOCOM" magazines that you don't have to register because they are within the mag capacity limit. Sure you COULD load 30 rounds of 5.56 in them, but you keep them for loading the .458….

Edit to add: I am not suggesting that anybody try this as an attempt to circumvent the law. Follow all applicable laws, etc...

This is a slippery slope for this type of registration. If the mags aren't stamped with caliber then what they really are used for is whatever the government says they are used for.

Scary stuff going on all over the country in little hot spots. If we don't vote this cancer out of office in 2014 and then 2016, I fear the entire country will turn into the next CT, CA, NYS or whatever. They are out-of-control with their "common sense" legislation. It may never go national but state-by-state, they will spread like cancer until there are only a few free states left.

Regarding assault weapon certificate application, specifically the field of manufacturer and serial number:
Let's say Our friend "Joe Public" had legally manufactured his own personal firearm... Back then in CT state it was legal to do so, even without a serial number (provided it was never sold).
Now this new law comes along specifying that our friend Joe needs to register this firearm because it meets certain evil criteria. Joe just wants to do the right thing, but is concerned the State might have a problem with him registering a firearm with no serial number and Self listed as the manufacturer.
Does Joe have valid cause for concern?

We can all piss and moan about what has happened in CT (my home state BTW) or we can all help kick Governor Malloy to the curb. He did this and it is incumbent on all of us to make sure pandering politicians like Malloy understand the consequences of their actions

Tom Foley is the only viable GOP candidate. So much so that after Newtown the CT Democratic party released this about him. It referred to his use of the term "Newtown Bounce" in an analysis of anti-gun polling data. Guess what? He was dead right.

Foley lost to Malloy in 2010 by less than a point. That ain't gonna happen next year. I re-upped on my NRA membership last month and donated to the Foley Campaign. I encourage all interested parties to do the same. Anyone who doesn't believe me, IM me an email address and I will prove my wife and I both donated the max and we are both Florida residents.

True enough. I added a disclaimer to my post so that nobody gets any bright ideas. I was saying it to illustrate a point, rather than to argue that someone should do this.

I listed the mags for the 7.62x25 upper as PPsh43 mags; which is what they are, or rather how they started life, but now they work in the AR....so i am guessing that at some point someone could assume i have a PPsh43, which i don't.

On one hand, my AR lower has "cal. 5.56" engraved on the side....on the other, that engraving doesn't mean squat with a 7.62 upper on there.
I'd only register the gun with the original caliber as it left the factory. As previously mentioned, only the part with a ser. # is a gun.

Having said that, if any of the barrels are threaded, they would have to be registered also. Plus any mags over 10 round capacity regardless of caliber.

What a freaken' nightmare!

Rather than deal with the whole registration scheme, my dad sent his S&W 5906 to me here in Free America. Maybe someday I'll be able to send it back.
