i have a creedmoor 03A3 and a m1917 that are too good to just punch paper, is anyone familiar with any cmp or nra rifle matches in western new york?

You can check the local ranges, usually the best place and go out of your way to stop in check them out, or just show up and compete. If there is no Highpower you might ask if there is a director of small bore or pistol who might know where to find what you are looking for. I believe there is a range on the east side of Syracuse but I don't remember the name.

Also check the NRA and CMP websites.

I'm positive there is. I know I've met quite a few shooters at Camp Perry from that area. I think its a big Garand Collectors stronghold. Of course I wouldn't plan on anything for a couple of months in that part of the world!

One way to find out is on the CMP website:

http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions.htm

Any club that sponsors a sanctioned match listed on the site probably also has monthly matches. I checked and nothing was listed but I'd check back once the snow melts.

I was messing around on the CMP link. Click the club tab. You can do a search. I entered NY and highpower rifle, and got dozens of hits. I'm not familiar with the geography of your area, but you'll be able to recognize town names and narrow down your search. Spring is just around the corner!

Shooting Sports is a good source too.

i know of a lot of those clubs, i am a member of the gowanda rifle club. last i knew, they only had a turkey shoot in the fall. a lot of the clubs are only cmp certified so members can buy the guns and ammo. a lot of the clubs get hits on a search for "highpower" because they have a "highpower" rifle range, not matches.
