I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has won an auction on Gunsamerica.

I had not used their site before but I tried bidding on a rifle I was interesed in. I had read their auction and bidding FAQ and I did not see anything unusual in what I read.

It turns out I won the auction at a very low price so I was pleased. However when I went thru the checkout process on the site, I found that the price shown was not the final auction price, but the maximum bid that I had originally input. Now I am confused.

I have emailed the site and the seller but have not heard back from either one yet. At this point I don't know what price I will be asked to pay.
Frankly, the rifle would be a good deal even at my maximum bid, but there is a difference of 100 dollars. If you are required to pay the maximum bid price they need to clearly spell that out. It would change your whole approach to making your bids.

Anyone who has won an auction there would be able to settle the question.

I've never used GunsAmerica, so I have no firsthand information, but all of the comments I've read about them have been less than positive.

Hope you get your problem resolved, in a fair fashion.

Happy Holidays

I have had much success buying and selling on GA but the auctions are pretty awful on there, which is why they don't focus on auctions.

I haven't bid on there but I did see a rifle in the back round of a picture of a rifle that was posted and contacted the guy. I ended up buying the rifle that was in that picture.

I have purchased a gun or two before. I have had zero problems. Just check the feedback on the seller. Most of the sellers I see are actual gun stores just doing online business.

I have purchased guns on gunsamerica through the buy it now option, and have been completely satisfied including one purchase that the seller goofed on but made up for the error and then some, so nothing but good experiences here. I have not used their auctions, as they are too hard to use, IMO.

I've used them. Better check feedback, if you have any issues - your on your own. Most internet sites are that way. My worst gun buying experience was with GA. You can pick up some great bargains, just be careful. Original post linked below. I did eventually break even on the gun after a considerable investment of time and money.

I've used GA with no problems, but I just bought items after correspondence with the seller, not auctions.

I have used it with no problems but can't seem to find anything I am looking for there any more. Still check it out but usually find more on Gunbroker.

I've bought several guns from the Guns America site, but never involved in an auction. Sorry can't help you on that.

Same as you jrl104, I bought a Colt Gold Cup Trophy from a dealer on GA. I called him we made our final deal and arrangements. I sent the dough, and he sent the NIB gun. No hassles. As for bidding, OP couldn't help you there. I mostly use GA to scan guns for sale to get a general idea of what a particular gun is worth that I am in the market for. (I know, my grammar is awful)

Was the auction a Reserve auction?

Bingo!

Many auctions have reserve prices which mean the seller sets a minimum price he will sell the gun for. If your bid did not reach this minimum, you did not "win" the auction even though you were the highest bidder. If your maximum was less than the reserve, this applies. If your maximum was higher than the reserve price, then the bid would have been recorded at the minimum required to sell the gun, even if your maximum price was higher. This allows competition from more than one buyer which usually raises the final price.

Don't think you guys are reading this right, but why respond with "I never bid" anyway?

OP -- the way you describe it of course there is a problem IF what you thought was your Max Bid wasn't a new bid somehow competing with yourself.

They have some esplainin' to do Lucy!

Oh -- and I don't use them anymore; I can't seem to stay logged on to their unstable site to my satisfaction and I do not trust them.
