That's the exact opposite of what you want. Slow burning powder will still be burning when it leaves the barrel losing a lot of velocity and causing a huge muzzle blast. A fast burning powder will burn up while in a short barrel and not have as much muzzle blast.I may be wrong, but the difference as a result of weight between the two options is negligible. Each of the proven SD loads (whether Gold Dots, Critical Defense, Hydra Shok, etc) each have adequate penetration and similar expansion in both weights, where applicable.
A more important consideration might be looking for a SD load with a slower burning powder, which would allow you to get the most (in terms of velocity) from a pistol with a shorter barrel.
Whoops. Thank you, my mistake there. That's the exact opposite of what you want. Slow burning powder will still be burning when it leaves the barrel losing a lot of velocity and causing a huge muzzle blast. A fast burning powder will burn up while in a short barrel and not have as much muzzle blast.
