Texas... finally
I'm looking for a rail for my AR build. Rifle will be used for fun time at the range and hopefully a pig hunt next year. In looking for a suitable rail for me, I came across the Seekins Precision SP3R rail. I like it from the pics I've seen but haven't handled one so I'll be buying blind. Does anyone on here have one? How do you like it? Are there any "proprietary" parts that require a special tool or is everything able to be accomplished with standard tools, IE: screwdrivers, AR armorers tool, etc?

It's this one: http://www.seekinsprecision.com/quad-rails-hand-guards/sp3r-mod-quad-rail.html

Other suggestions are welcomed as well. I would like to buy a fairly priced, U.S. made rail that will take a bit of use as I will run this gun thru a carbine class or two as well.

If you have one and feel like posting pictures, that's always good!

Thanks,

Christopher

As I haven't purchased that part from Seekins, I have made other purchases from them and highly recommend anything that comes out of their shop. It may be a small shop, but they do great work.

I have never heard anything negative about Seekins product. The only products I own from them are the magazine release buttons, which I really like.

That is a good looking rail though.

If your not set on them, I would recommend giving Midwest Industries a look. Their rails are solid and light.

Thanks folks.

Only issue that I have with Midwest Industries is that they use a proprietary barrel nut. At least as I understand it. I am a fan of standardization. Less tools to carry. I have looked at them and they are second on the list to the Seekins. Great looking rail and seemingly solidly built. I haven't ruled anything out yet.

MI does use a proprietary barrel nut, but the wrench is included with the rail. I have Gen 2 SS rail and one of the new keymods, both installed easily and are rock sold.

I don't think you will find a lighter rail in the MI price range.

That Seekins is a good looking rail though.

The wrench being included isn't the issue. I don't want to have to keep track of yet another wrench. I'm trying to adhere to the KISS principle... sort of. I am going 300 on this, my first and only planned AR.

I have one!! It kinda depends whether you like its feel or not, I know I do. It also looks VERY attractive to me. No complaints here.
