What's your "never buy" gun?

Lorcin, Bryco, Jennings. No thanks. Hi Points I've found to be okay. Ugly and bulky but functional. The gun brand I've had most problems with is Llama. Nice lines on the guns I bought. Looked good. HORRIBLE functioning. Jam after jam after jam. Tried one, thought I had a lemon. Bought a second one a few years later of a different model and caliber, same problems. Llama...Today's Worst Brand..in the Wooorrrlllddd.

Taurus revolvers. For me to buy one, it would have to be used, at a cheap price and examined by me first. If I want new, I'd go S&W or Ruger.

Hi-Point

I have a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine, that works pretty well, and thinking about getting a .45 pistol (maybe 9mm) to keep if it functions as well . I see good reports for them, and don't be fooled by the price . Ugly - yeah, bulky - sure, but function - bono ! See my above comment re : Walther grip profile . Otherwise, to each his own .:)

My list is topped by Glock and the "Ring of Fire" zamak specials.

Actually, I doubt if I will ever own a poly/striker pistol of any brand.

However, I might warm-up to a nice poly hammer by HK or Sig...

I'd never buy:

S&W Scandium revos - They are too light.

Taurus - spotty Q/C at best

Glock of any model - They simply don't feel 'right' in my hand, too blocky. I prefer a longer trigger reach and grip.

Any class III firearm - Who can afford to feed them?

Lot of people hate single shot guns, love my H&R survivor. My wife bought me a S&W semi auto 10 years ago before we got married, I cant stand over a target and hit it with any of the 16 or 17 rounds the mag holds. I married her and she gave me three boys that can shoot all of the great guns i own but ill never buy another S&W product.

I too enjoy a single shot, one reason I don't burn a bunch of ammo and it's also very accurate. My never buy again, beside Taurus is cheap very inexpensive guns. You get what you pay for. Certainly a good buy can be had, but a cheap gun is usually cheaply made.

I get the disdain for cheap guns - I won't buy them either.

Hard to believe the hate for some of the others. Perhaps ya'll are just a bunch of limp-wristed ninnies that shouldn't be firing real weapons. ;-)

A five year three month old thread ... I think this thread would have more credibility if folks posted pics of their bad choices, along with scanned copies of the purchase receipts for said pieces ... maybe a sample target or two, and the e-mail string of correspondence with the manufacturer's customer service desk ...

... Otherwise, all I'm seeing is a whole bunch of people teeing off on the guns that they perceive are easy to criticize.

I sorta feel that the CEOs of Taurus, Hi-Point, Kel-Tec, Remington et al really could care less that a bunch of anonymous folks on the internet say that they're not gonna buy their products. Sales reports from these companies would seem to indicate that the internet bashing of their products hasn't even slightly affected their profits.

Just sayin' ...

...except that not all posts have anything to do with a bad product or bad service...and nobody posting here cares what all those CEO's think or don't think about what a "bunch of anonymous folks on the internet" are saying about their products.

It's a string about your "never buy gun". No more, no less. Post your own, with whatever justification/lack of justification you wish.

;)

Well, here's a classic example of what 72 pages and more than 5 years of posts has wrought:
Anything that says Taurus on it.
And of course, nothing further. Typical of most of the posts in this thread.

I guess what I'm asking is, what's the point?

Cheap Turkish shotguns

I have an LSI Escort O/U shotgun. Broken firing pin at about 500 rounds. Now the cocking mechanism doesn't work after anther 500 rounds. It's been sitting in the safe broken for almost a year.

I think we've covered every firearm made in the last 100 years.

You're correct the proof is in the pudding. Taurus can go back in it's files see where I sent my revolver in, and got it back no fix. Traded it for a Browning Hi-Power++$. Cheap guns speak for themselves. Any gun you can trust your life to or a big trophy is worth keeping.
