Carrying a mega pistol.

A family sized can of aerosol deodorant, bigfoots(bigfeet?)hate it.

The AK pistol could make a good truck gun, but a true rifle or carbine doesn't take much more space and is more accurate. Of course the mini AK is easier to maneuver inside the truck if that need arose.

Beef jerkey. LOTS and LOTS of beef jerkey.

I think you're better off with a real rifle or a more potent handgun than one of those odd things. They're too in-between. The weight and bulk of a rifle but with the short barrel and no buttstock, you lose potency and the ability to hit more easily. Too large and unwieldy to conceal or function as a proper handgun.

Wow, you think you need a short rifle just because you are driving on deserted roads? What happens when a round .223 hits someone in a house just off that road? Really?

I'm a revolver guy but I do practice with a 1911 too. If you are going somewhere a 1911 with a spare mag or two isn't enough protection, don't go there or don't go there alone! Just because a road is deserted doesn't make it dangerous unless it's only in your mind. A short .223 rifle for SD, really?

Craig's post is the other reason I got rid of mine. I thought it'd be cool but for all practical purposes, a true handgun is easier to shoot out of a vehicle window due to its size and weight.

I found the Sig P556 gained me nothing in so far as defense goes, and the novelty wore off quickly at the range. I could hit a target at 50 yards consistantly and relatively quickly, but a lightly built rifle would do the job better.

For me anyway. Your results may be different.

I used to haul my OA-93 around quite a little bit. Once I got 'er tuned up, figured what to feed reliably and found a sweet sling it was handy and confidence inspiring - though large.

Eventually because it ran so well and I was given too good an offer, it went down the road.

I'm a service pistol guy. No AR or AK pistols for me. I respect them, though. A guy I know travels a lot, and keeps an AR pistol with him (in addition to a full size 1911) for 'home defense' on the road. It's fair to say he's not trusting of strangers around motels.
