Anyone know of a good survival forum online? I've found a few but its tough to tell which are good and which are not that good.

We have our occasional discussion about Bug Out Bags, gear, etc here but not enough.

I'd like to find more details about water purification, food storage, outdoor survival etc.

Any ideas where I can find a good forum?

I am interested also.

Most of the stuff I have found online is either old and broken, or related to the Ark II project.

Any links would be appreciated.

www.knifeforums.com has a survival forum down among their three outdoor forums. Scroll well down the main page, below the knife brand forums.

It used to be excellent, then a certain aggressive/controversial custom (?) knifemaker intruded for a time and the good moderators quit. They were also excellent contributors. Interest hasn't been the same since, but some good material still appears.

Some members get a lot of mileage from what they can pack even in an empty Altoids tin. Of course, the knife aspect is well covered.

If you go there, check out the factory forum for Fallkniven knives, which deserve to be much better known. (Fallkniven also has its own colorful site, www.fallkniven.com )There's also a good Randall Made forum, and the military knife forum will interest many.

Lone Star.

Without a doubt, www.FrugalSquirrels.com. It may be a "nutty" name, but the site is terrific.

good thread!

Kung Fu Pumas?...could be that our mtn lion threads generate almost as much as our bear threads do. I might be off base though.

Plan B

Just make sure you have a Plan B in case the world doesn't end. Some people seem to forget that.

(If not, cheer up anyway. Saw a History Channel show about Bible Codes last night. According to some, there's going to be a war with Syria in 2005 and the world will end in 2012. It'll end by a comet strike, though, so all that purified water isn't really going to help.) LOL

I think Frugal Squirrels is THE survival forum. I have been there for ever a year and a half and have learned more than I care to tell. Great forum and a good bunch of people in my mind.

Where's it gonna land? If it hits land and the world fills up with dust and smoke, I'm gonna get a cool mask.

If it lands in the ocean and creates massive waves and the world floods, I'm gonna get one of those tactical Zodiac thingies or whatever they're called.

Either way I'm gonna buy me some  toys! :D

Skunky, buddy, I don't think it's one of those ones where it hits and kicks up smoke/dust or water. I think it's one of the ones where it hits and a mile high shockwave of fire laps the world twice and we all get vaporized.

Don't know what you can buy to survive that, but tell me if you figure it out.

OH, I figured it out. A SPACE STATION. We'll need to get some women.

Bit Biased as I'm a mod, but, http://www.warrifles.com has a dedicated survival grouping, we've also picked up a lot of refugees from F.S. you'll also find the members supplied writing section, as well as both Wilderness survival (hosted by Brian Fox) and SHTF style survival. FnFAL previously a F.S. member is hosting an urban survivlal subsection. Sorry if it sounds like an add, but we're all kinda proud of the site and all it has to offer.

Another vote for Frugal Squirrel. Good place, and while you are there download a copy of Lights Out by Halffast and read that if you haven't already.
